A Very British Summer with Marks & Spencer’s latest launch!

4 June, 2015

The temps are rising, the skies are blue (apart from the occasional pesky typhoon…) and the air-con is blasting – summer has officially hit Hong Kong! Why not make the most of the warmer climes and sunshine by hitting your nearest park for a picnic (theses are our favourite picnic spots) or firing up a BBQ for you and your friends? Don’t have a BBQ at home? One of these barbecue locations is sure to provide a suitable space for sausage sizzling! And of course, summer in Hong Kong isn’t complete with a day on the water, junk-ing ‘til your heart’s content. If you want to make sure you have the ultimate spread of snacks at your next BBQ, picnic or junk outing, then make sure you check out the latest offerings from the one and only, Marks & Spencer!

Yep, we’re big fans of this British brand here at Sassy, and we couldn’t wait to check out the new summer goodies they’ve got on offer. Add a bit of British flair to your next feast and snap up some of their summer products from the ‘A Taste of the British Isles’ range. This is the biggest ever product launch M&S have had outside of Christmas with over 300 new products, and whilst not all of these are available right here in the 852, we are lucky enough to have a couple hitting our shelves!

Tickle your tastebuds with interesting flavours from all over the U.K. From Scottish Heather Honey and English Mustard Roasted Cashews to Bramley Apple Pork Pies, M&S have sourced only the best homegrown British ingredients to bring us a new selection of tasty treats. Our personal favourites? For savoury, the Handcrafted Hogroast Sausage Rolls are absolutely scrumptious. Made in Yorkshire, the rustic finish of the all-butter puff pastry combined with the pulled pork and sweet Bramley Apple are the perfect filling bites to bring to your next picnic. Oh – and did we mention they’re topped with pork crackling?! The ultimate comfort food.

If you’re strapped for time but still want to contribute to that summer BBQ you’ve been invited to, then why not take along a big bag of these delicious, gourmet crisps? The unusual flavours are sure to get people talking and are the perfect accompaniment to a glass of vino. We’re eyeing up the Scottish Langoustine with Dill and Lemon Hand-cooked Crisps, ideal for whetting your appetite before you grill up some seafood.

If you’ve got a serious sweet tooth then you won’t be disappointed when you sink your teeth into M&S’s new Wild Flower Honeycomb. Break it up into chunks and add to vanilla ice-cream for a quick and easy dessert after dinner… yum. If you want to bring something small to the party, then the Earl Grey Almonds and Elderflower Raspberries are perfect for grabbing and go-ing. The unusual flavours are so creative and really work, giving the almonds and raspberries a burst of sweetness! And the Scottish All Butter Eton Mess Shortbread Rounds are perfect for a hostess gift. Wash all of these British bites down with a glass of chilled British Apple Juice with Elderflower… it’s refreshing and summery, perfect for a sunny day.
