To the window…
To the (HK) Walls! In its second year, HK Walls is Hong Kong’s best celebration of street art in the city – a cool alternative to the other art fairs going on this weekend. Check out the prints by artists such as Artime Joe, Jay Flow and Parent’s Parent, and you’ll even get to meet some of these talented street artists too! Watch as they transform some of the walls in the Sheung Wan ‘hood with live art paintings in a variety of mediums. Stay for the opening party in Sheung Wan on Sunday, 15 March from 2pm onwards. The event continues in and around Stanley Market as well.
When: Saturday, 14 March & Sunday, 15 March
Where: 9 Tai On Terrace, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong & Stanley Market, Stanley Market Road, Stanley, Hong Kong
How much: Free entry. Limited prints are available for sale at the exhibition.
Get lucky
It’s time to get lucky and dig out any four-leaf clovers you may have, as well as that green tank top you nearly never wear! St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and it’s time to break out the Guinness. Dress in green and head to BRICK LANE for a free Black Velvet and then grab a bite from their Irish-themed menu; valid until Tuesday, 17 March. Put on a leprechaun suit and head to Lan Kwai Fong on Saturday, 14 March for pints of Guinness, music and charity. All money raised at Rúla Búla and Solas on the night will go to Laura Lynn Children’s Hospice in Dublin and Foodlink Foundation right here in the 852. We hope you receive some Irish luck this St. Paddy’s Day!
When: Celebrations go on tomorrow night (Saturday, 14 March) and St. Paddy’s Day is on Tuesday, 17 March
Where: All over Hong Kong!
Art Attack
In case you’ve been living under a rock you’ll know the biggest art fair in the world, Art Basel, is happening this weekend. Look out for plenty of amazing artists and exhibitions, as well as some funky art themed wining and dining options too! Art Central will also be opening its doors as will Chai Wan Mei, and don’t forget to check out the amazing installation by Richard Wilson at The Peninsula Hong Kong too! The full-size double decker bus installation is literally hanging off the side of the hotel in the artist’s famous bus installation, “Hang On A Minute Lads, I’ve Got A Great Idea…”, inspired by The Italian Job. This is an absolute must-see during art week, so pop over and make sure you check out this unique installation before it’s gone! For more details on the art fairs going on around town, click here.
When: “Hang On A Minute Lads, I’ve Got A Great Idea…” is on until Wednesday, 8 April
Where: The Peninsula Hong Kong, Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong
