Shopping for your wedding dress is no easy task, which is why we’ve created this ultimate guide to help.
There are a million things to consider when planning a wedding, and finding your dream dress is definitely high on the agenda. With so many choices available, it can feel a little overwhelming at times (hello, dress #36!). But whether you have your heart set on a specific design, or really have no preconceived idea about what you want, we’ve compiled this comprehensive list of wedding dress stores in Hong Kong to make the process a little easier for you. Expect everything from full-bodied ball gowns to intricate, beaded two-pieces. With boutique and budget options available, you’re sure to find “the one”. We recommend bringing a close friend or family member along for that trusty second opinion…happy shopping!
Le Soleil Bridal Closet is set amongst lush greenery in the heart of TST, which lends an air of tranquillity to the whole experience of choosing your dress. This cosy studio was founded by two best friends, with the aim of offering a unique collection of gowns for non-traditional brides (in as relaxing a setting as possible). It stocks a good variety of global designers including Romanzo by Julie Vino, Riki Dalal, Dreams by Lihi Hod, Eddy K and Eliza Jane Howell. You’ll be assigned your own personal bridal assistant to ensure you get the one-on-one attention you deserve. We also like that you’re encouraged to bring along close friends or family to help you make your mind up (a second opinion is always very welcome when making a decision as big as this!). Its dresses start from $20,000 to buy, or you could choose to rent one of its gowns instead (from $7,000). Don’t forget to check out its bespoke headpiece service too! By appointment only.
Choosing a wedding dress is an incredibly special occasion for every bride-to-be, so it’s really important to feel like you’re in excellent (and professional) hands. And that’s exactly what you get with The LOFT (or The Lab Of Fairy Tales). Founded by experienced fashion buyer Jacqueline Au, who earned her stripes at Lane Crawford and Celine, it goes above and beyond to put a fresh spin on bridal. As you’d expect from someone with such extensive fashion expertise, the expertly curated (and quite simply, stunning) dress selection is constantly evolving! Think exclusive collaborations with emerging talents and top designers, including Alex Perry, Maticevski, Delpozo, One Day Bridal, & Costarellos. Most of the brands stocked are available in less than five places in the world! So it’s no wonder the store has received accolades from both local and international top-tier publications (including Vogue Australia, Monocle and Prestige). A highly personalised service is guaranteed as each member of The LOFT team also has a background in fashion and are all experts in their field. They’re on hand to offer invaluable advice and recommendations, ensuring you find everything you need for the big day and beyond, to make the ultimate statement for every occasion. There’s even a bespoke service with couture veil designer Daphne Newman, who can create a custom-made piece just for you. By appointment only.
We love that Paradiso Bridal recognises women come in lots of different shapes and sizes, so it’s refreshing to see it stocks gowns for those of us who are a UK size 12 (US size 8) and above. This boutique salon not only tries to cater to every size, but also to every taste (whether you’re after a classic gown, want to go full Princess or would prefer something in between). It says its brides are classic, chic and comfortable in their own skin, which is why its designer collection has been curated from all around the world. It’s worth noting this is the only shop in Asia to carry both the main and couture line from award-winning US brand Maggie Sottero. It also stocks Olympia Sposa, whose stunning gowns are 100% handmade in Italy (think lots of lace and floaty, feminine designs). This wedding shop has been on the scene since 2012 and in that time has cemented itself as a firm favourite with Hong Kong’s fashion-forward brides-to-be. That’s in no small part due to Miss Bride’s relaxed, low-key atmosphere, which is sure to put even the most highly strung of us at ease. But of course it’s mainly due to the selection of designers it stocks. Its buyers handpick luxurious gowns from all over the world, so you can choose from labels including Hayley Paige (we love her dreamy, romantic creations), Jenny Yoo, Alexandra Grecco, Sarah Seven and Watters . Miss Bride also recognises you’ll probably want some moral support as you make your big decision, so you can bring up to three people with you (just give them a call in advance if you intend to bring a bigger entourage). A dress rental service is also available if you’d prefer not to buy. Make sure you also check out the stylish accessories from brands like Twigs and Honey! By appointment only.
Sassy Perk: Sassy readers are entitled to two free dress trials (which usually cost $100).
