10 Cool Looks For A Hot Hong Kong Summer

Sticky, sweaty and stylish?

The first thing we think of when we hear the word summer (after we cringe) is feeling sticky all over (especially when having to get dressed!). Of course, it would be nice to spend those scorching months sitting on the beach in our swimsuits and not having to worry about picking out an outfit we won’t sweat through, but most of us don’t have that luxury (sigh). And despite HK’s humidity, we girls still want to look stylish. That’s why we at Sassy have gathered the perfect selection of summer staples that are light enough to endure Hong Kong’s seemingly endless heat. They are lightweight and made from quick-drying fabrics to keep you cool, but are still very much on trend.

Club Monaco

We love Club Monaco’s classic white dress made from a cotton lining and linen shell. It’s the perfect piece for a hot summer day. The simplicity of the white (it’s a colour we likely won’t sweat through!) makes the Gustavah Dress even more of a coveted item. With brightly coloured detailing, it’s a classic creation with a little pizzazz. Despite the somewhat higher price tag, we think it’s totally worth the splurge!

Also be sure to check out the Jamila Shorts, Hensley Romper and Sinthea Dress

Lovers + Friends

Lovers + Friends is coming in hot this season with and eyelet design that pairs cute and flirty with lightweight and airy. The off-the-shoulder Seamist Top is perfect with a pair of jean shorts for the weekend or can be dressed up with a skirt all summer long. The number of looks you can make with this top is well worth the few extra bucks!

We’re also loving the X Revolve Tie That Top, Sasha Short and Adriana Romper.

With the aircon blasting through every building, having a light jacket is a must and Zara’s Floral Bomber Jacket can help. This sheer floral take on a bomber is trendy and practical to style with your summer outfits this upcoming season! Spice up an LBD for date night or style it with a t-shirt and jeans – it’s a piece that can easily be worn day and night!

Be sure to also check out the Linen Top, Cut-Work Shorts and Embroidered T-Shirt.

These 100% cotton pants from Matter are perfect for Hong Kong’s hot and steamy summer months. The Lounge Lunghi pants can be dressed down with a cute tank, or add some heels and a blouse and you’re good to go for a night out. Seen here in the Falcon Footprint pattern – they are hand-dyed and azo-free.

We also love The All Day Jumpsuit + Kirana, The Button-Back Top + Iching Sandstone and The Modern Monpe + Alpine Rhythm

Vivid Linen

Vivid Linen has the answer when you need to cover up (think frigid aircon!) the summer, despite the hot and humid temperatures. Take this linen three-quarter sleeve knit top with you when you need something to throw on at sunset or when heading into chilly buildings.

Also have a peek at the Linen Mandarin Collar A-Line Sleeveless Shirt, Linen Straight-Leg Skirt and Linen Thin Strap Cami.

H & M

Seersucker is the quintessential summer fabric that is breezy and flattering. The Seersucker dress from H&M is easy on the budget and breezy on the body. The cinch around the waist is a very flattering design, and it can be worn alone or you layered and accessorised it in a variety of ways.

We also love the Cotton Top with a Tie, Crinkled Cotton Top and Linen-Blend Shorts.

These pants from J. Crew are a must when it’s humid outside. Made from cotton and having a loose fit, the pull-on cargo pant is the perfect pair to throw on for a casual summer look. We love that a white t-shirt and statement necklace would do the trick or even a patterned blouse if you need to dress it up a bit.

Have a look at the Scalloped Romper in Tencel-Linen, One-Shoulder Ruffle Top in Eyelet and Linen Pom-Pom Tank Top

Bella Dahl

A simple summer skirt is the key to your wardrobe in the summer time and we love the ladder stitch skirt from Bella Dahl. It’s made from 100% tencel – ideal for hot days – and the eyelet hem adds some texture to this classic item. Though it’s a little on the pricey side, it’s a great find as it can be a closet staple, and the unique fabric blend will be sure to keep you cool.

Also be sure to check out the Halter Dress, Crop Pant and Eyelet Halter.

We at Sassy are big fans of Grana’s clothing selection, and the Linen Boyfriend Shirt Dress has us taking notice! This knee-length number is made from breathable Irish linen, and its waist belt makes it a classic for any wardrobe. The neutral colour makes it an easy one to match as well.

Also keep cool with the Linen A-Line Dress, Linen Sleeveless Tee and Linen Tee

You can’t keep cool wearing clunky shoes, and these barely-there Kana Lace up Gladiator Sandals by Madewell are the perfect way to keep the heat off your feet in the hot summer months. They come in a trendy lace-up style that will keep your feet supported but also able to breathe. Offered in both camel and black, you will have no trouble pairing these shoes with all your summer looks!

We are loving the Pull On Cutoff Shorts, Cold Shoulder Dress and Fleur Embroidered Top.
