Hidden in a Mong Kok backstreet, this quirky fourth-floor café is a hipster’s dream — think vintage decor, unobstructive background music, inventive desserts and (our favourite) plenty of plug sockets for your laptop! NOC Coffee Co. – Large minimalistic cafe in Whampoa with in-house coffee beans
We know this cafe chain isn’t a hidden gem by any means, but the massive, airy Whampoa location is grossly underrated. We’re also biased fans of its $45 Mocha (the perfect balance of coffee and chocolate!) and the minimal decor across all NOC’s branches, which we find helps us focus when working.

Offering zero-waste products (from mostly local brands), a “chill tent” in the middle of the cafe, seriously strong coffees ($40 to $65) and plenty of speciality drinks ($45 to $56), Loop Kulture really has it all. We’re also obsessed with the Caramelised Banana Pain Perdu ($118), a dessert that demands sharing! Just note it can get quite noisy during peak hours, so it’s not the best for studying.

This cosy cafe is tucked between Prince Edward and Sham Shui Po and remains a lesser-known gem. It feels like we’re at grandma’s thanks to the retro decor and indulgent chiffon cakes ($68) that taste homemade. Be warned, though, there’s a minimum charge of $100 per person, so don’t expect to just have a coffee ($35 to $60)!

Blend & Grind sits on a quiet corner in Wan Chai’s Streetstreet Precinct, while another location is perched right off the Mid-Levels Escalators in Central. After a recent refresh, the menu now leans toward stronger coffees like Long blacks, Macchiatos and Cortados. Both branches offer solid spots to work outside the house, though we’re partial to the Wan Chai venue, which stays open late and turns into a neighbourhood bar!
