Netflix has hailed Bridgerton its “biggest series ever”, with the bodice ripper topping streaming records when released earlier this year. Executive produced by Shonda Rhimes, part of the period drama’s success is down to its frothy, luxurious costuming, which designer Ellen Mirojnick told Vogue was “aspirational, as opposed to historically accurate.”
It’s since sparked a budding “Regencycore” fashion movement. Drawing on broad inspirations like regency-era outfits and 50’s Christian Dior, the trend embraces empire waists, tulle, dainty florals and swoon-worthy necklines with aplomb. And we’re all for it.
