How Long Do Eyelash Extensions Last?

Frequently Asked Questions About Lash Salons in Hong Kong

How much do eyelash extensions cost in Hong Kong?

Prices for a full set of upper lash extensions at the salons in this guide start from around $599 and go up to $1,080 or more, depending on the salon, technique and style. Refills are cheaper than a full set and are usually booked every three weeks.

How long do eyelash extensions last?

A full set typically lasts four to six weeks. Because we naturally shed two to five lashes a day, individual extensions fall out gradually as your natural lashes cycle. To keep the look seamless, book a refill every three weeks.

What is the difference between eyelash extensions and a lash lift?

Eyelash extensions are individual lashes glued onto your natural lashes to add length and volume. They need refills and last around four to six weeks. A lash lift curls your own natural lashes upwards and adds no length. If you want to ditch mascara but keep things low-effort, a lash lift is the lighter option.

What is a keratin lash lift?

A keratin lash lift is a semi-permanent treatment that curls and lifts your natural lashes from the root. Your technician applies a lifting solution to shape the lashes around a silicone rod, then sets them with a keratin-based treatment that nourishes and strengthens the lashes. It is often paired with a tint for a darker, fuller look.

Are eyelash extensions safe? Do I need a patch test?

Yes, when applied by a trained technician. The main risk is a reaction to the adhesive, so ask for a patch test at least 24 to 48 hours before your first appointment, and tell your technician about any allergies, contact lens use or past reactions. Avoid oil-based products around the eyes and do not pull at the lashes, as this can damage the natural lash.

What are the methods of eyelash extensions?

  • Classic: one extension applied to one natural lash for a natural, defined look.
  • Volume: handmade fans of ultra-fine lashes attached to a single natural lash for a fuller, fluffier effect.
  • Mega volume: even finer and denser fans for a dramatic, high-impact look.
  • Hybrid: a mix of classic and volume extensions for added texture and fullness.

Some salons also offer Japanese-style and Korean-style extensions, which focus on a soft, natural finish with lightweight lashes.

What are the steps of an eyelash extension appointment?

  1. Consultation: you discuss your desired look, curl, length and any sensitivities with your technician.
  2. Preparation: your eyes are cleansed to remove oil and makeup and under-eye pads or tape are placed to separate your lower lashes.
  3. Application: extensions are attached one by one (or as fans, for volume styles) using lash adhesive.
  4. Finishing: the lashes are checked for placement and comfort, and the adhesive is allowed to set.
  5. Aftercare advice: your technician explains how to care for your lashes and when to book a refill.

A full set usually takes around 1.5 to 2.5 hours, depending on the style.

How do I take care of eyelash extensions?

  • Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 to 48 hours so the adhesive can fully settle.
  • Cleanse gently with a lash-safe foam cleanser and a soft brush to remove oil and debris.
  • Brush your lashes daily with a clean spoolie.
  • Avoid oil-based makeup removers, eye creams and mascara, which can weaken the adhesive.
  • Do not pick, pull or rub your lashes.
  • Sleep on your back or use a silk pillowcase where possible to reduce friction.
  • Book a refill every three weeks to keep the set looking full.

Will my eyelashes grow back after eyelash extensions?

Yes. Eyelash extensions are attached to your natural lashes and do not stop them from growing. Natural lashes go through a growth cycle of roughly six to eight weeks, so they shed and regrow on their own. Lash loss can occur if extensions are too heavy, applied incorrectly, or pulled at, so choose an experienced technician and avoid picking at your lashes.

Where can I get eyelash extensions in Hong Kong?

Central, Lan Kwai Fong and Causeway Bay have lots of lash salons, and most of the studios listed in this guide are there. Tsim Sha Tsui has strong options too, particularly for Japanese-style extensions. All the salons above are listed with addresses and contact numbers.
