April showers bring theatre, music and more! Check out the cool equestrian circus at Cavalia, or if that’s not your thing you can catch 90s boy-band Backstreet Boys live in the 852 (yes, really!). Easter is just around the corner too, and we definitely plan on eating our weight in chocolate eggs in between everything else going on around town. Get your diaries out and note down your favourite events from this month’s For Your Diary!

MobartMobart Pop-up
Mobart is a mobile art gallery. The studio in PMQ is displaying works of art from more than 50 artists such as Ben Pickering, Cornelia Erdmann, and Iris Chan. Check out what’s up here, as well as details of a range of different artist talks and workshops going on.

Ocean Art Walk1Ocean Art Walk
If the art fairs in March weren’t enough, head over to Stanley Plaza and check out the Ocean Art Walk from Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation. This art installation is designed to raise awareness about sea pollution and takes inspiration from the Emmy-award winning documentary Chasing Ice. Grab a bite somewhere along the promenade while you’re there!

CavaliaCavalia
If you were a fan of dressage at the Olympics, then you’ve got to check out Cavalia. This mix of equestrian and performing arts will have you on the edge of your seat! Head over to Central for this thrilling equestrian ballet… think Cirque du Soleil with horses!

In Harmony:FaluIn Harmony
If you’re a fan of different styles of music, then you’ve got to check out In Harmony. Fusing Bollywood, jazz and Latin music together, this will certainly be a magical evening of song. The five vocalists will be led by Falu and backed by Hong Kong guitar hero Eugene Pao and his musicians.

Secrets of the Lost CircusSecrets of the Lost Circus
This one will tickle your theatrical fancies! Aerial Arts Academy and Viva Circus present a circus and dance production, Secrets of the Lost Circus. Featuring pole dancer Pink Puma, this will be an exciting story about a boy trying to find civilisation and his adventures. See you there!

Have you ever fancied yourself a novelist a la Colin Firth in Love Actually? Why not join the Hong Kong Writers Workshop for their session on Chick Lit? This is just for those of you who are super passionate about creative writing – after all, you can totally embellish in a novel and write the greatest love story of all time. Swoon!

Shakespeare in the Port1Shakespeare in the Port
It’s back! An outdoor festival celebrating all things Shakespeare is taking place in Cyberport for the second year running. Shakespeare in the Port will have performances of The Tempest and Lear, as well as A Midsummer Night’s Dream (performed by HKU’s Shax Theatre Group) over a bottle of wine and a bag of crisps. Enjoy!

Bitches Who BrunchBitches who Brunch
Who said fundraising had to be boring? Hong Kong Dog Rescue are hosting a brunch for bitches – ahem, ladies – to raise revenue for the organisation. It’s an opportunity for ladies to let their hair down and have fun, and all for a good cause. Sounds like a fun afternoon!

Kassia ChoirHer Song
Head to St. John’s Cathedral if you’re after some exciting choir music. The Kassia Women’s Choir will be performing tunes from Madonna, Aretha Franklin and Rihanna among others. Sounds like a suitably sweet evening organised by The Women’s Foundation! Part of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to Christian Action Chungking Mansions Service Centre Choir fund for refugees and asylum seekers.
