WEEKENDER: Affordable Art Fair is in town, Cath Kidston’s Afternoon tea at FEAST, a Playboy pop-up at Lane Crawford and more!

21 March, 2014
If you think the Rugby Sevens are the only thing happening in March you’re very much mistaken! In the run up to HK’s favourite weekend there’s a huge line-up of fun events, tasty treats and musical delights to get involved with. From awesome artwork and quaint afternoon tea, to hearty British grub and rockabilly jams, we’ve got it all in this week’s Weekender…

Brighten up!
This great weather has put a spring in our step, and we can’t wait to celebrate the changing seasons with Cath Kidston, our favourite vintage-style British brand! She’s teamed up with Feast (Food by EAST) for a themed afternoon tea inspired by Cath Kidston’s Brighten Up Your Day Spring/Summer collection. This adorable tea set not only includes traditional finger sandwiches and scones, but also beautiful macarons, chocolate bon bons and delicate cakes. Of course, the tea is themed with the delightful floral patterns and prints that Cath Kidston is known for… we loved the handcrafted sugar flowers on top of the cupcakes (designed by award-winning cake designer Penny Pang)! Sweetheart or sweet tooth, you don’t want to miss this… (Don’t forget your complimentary Cath Kidston rose hand cream and a discount card on the way out too!)

When: 24 March to 18 May, 3-5.30pm
Where: Feast, EAST, 29 Taikoo Shing Road, Island East, Hong Kong
How much: $228 for a set for two on weekdays, $195 per person on weekends; For reservations, email [email protected] or call 3968 3777.

Battle of the bands
You’ve got the usual live lounge music and the underground bands on the weekends, but what about a battle of the genres? Head on down to Grappa’s Cellar this Saturday to check out a Mods versus Rockers night! Ska music, popular with the British mods, will be represented by The Red Stripes, and they’ll be going head to head against The Boogie Playboys, who will be playing some awesome rockabilly jams that will bring you back to the 1950s! Both local bands are the best in their genre, so no matter which side you’re rooting for you know you’ll be in for a phenomenal evening! Gather some friends and grab a couple of drinks, because it’s time to rock!
