The Getaway Market - In Love with Nature

Take the Tung Chung line down to Citygate Outlets for the mall’s first-ever outdoor market. Bringing together over 40 local artisans, social enterprises and NGOs, you’ll find an array of locally-made handicrafts, accessories, aromatherapy goods and organic treats. Over the weekend, you can join a number of creative workshops and enjoy live performances by local artists such as Edward C., Hinry Lau, K.ELLY, YUNG and Maggie Tsoi.

This weekend is your last chance to check out the art installations presented by design district Hong Kong dotted around the city. If you haven’t already, head to Wan Chai Promenade to see the brightly lit inflatable arches and run through them to make the colour of the lights change, or visit Victoria Park to see The Ripple of Time, a mesmerising homage to the history and development of Wan Chai’s coastline which reflects Hong Kong’s iconic skyline with more than 2,000 coloured panels.

Hand-painted Porcelain Workshop Led By Guangcai Masters

Hong Kong’s first and only remaining hand-painted porcelain factory, Yuet Tung China Works is collaborating with Temple Mall to present a “Porcelain & Tea” exhibition showcasing Guangcai, a type of Cantonese painted porcelain listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage item. Guangcai masters from Yuet Tung China Works will also be hosting a number of porcelain workshops this month where you can try your hand at Guangcai painting.

At the end of the workshop, you can choose to take your piece home or have it fired in a porcelain kiln at Yuet Tung China Works. Your piece will be ready for collection after two to three weeks.

When: Every Saturday in July, 12pm to 3pm (45 minutes per session, 4 session per day)

Westside Whole Hog Barbecue

11 Westside is bringing out the barbecue to celebrate the 4th of July – Mexican style! The star of the show will be the whole hog, slowly roasted over the coals to perfection, accompanied by delicious sides of salt baked potatoes, kale salad chicken enchiladas and house-made salsas and chips. You’ll be in for a rollicking time with the music ramped up and the bar serving frozen margaritas and ice-cold beers.

Abundance - a breathwork event with Breath of Bliss

Join Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden’s online breathwork event led by Breath of Bliss facilitator Andrew McAulay who has been teaching meditation since 2004. Make sure to find a quiet place to sit and light a scented candle for a truly relaxing session.

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. To reserve your place, complete the online application form on or before July 22. Successful applicants will be notified by email and receive login details for accessing the online workshop by July 22.

Celebrating One Year With Cookie Smiles Bake Challenge

To celebrate its one-year anniversary, local social enterprise Cookie Smiles is inviting home bakers to its first Cookie Smiles Baking Challenge. Participants are required to create and develop their own recipe from the list of ingredients provided by Cookie Smiles, and must include one of two special ingredients – Rosemary or Mint from Hysan Development’s Hysan Urban Farm.

There will be three rounds of challenges taking place over three days (Saturday, 28 August, Saturday, 25 September and Saturday, 30 October). Did we mention the first place winner will win prizes and a cash reward of $3,000?

When: The deadline to register is Saturday, 31 July.
