‘Tache time!
When my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015 my heart broke. Luckily though, he was fortunate; surgery removed the cancer and heโs now as heathy as Iโve ever known him. But prostate cancer is still the most common cancer amongst men, and equates to approximately 8% of all diagnosed cancers. Itโs likely that someone you know has been, or will be, affected.
Therefore, I LOVE Movember; a worldwide charity movement that encourages men to get sponsored to grow a Moustache throughout November. Not only is it for a great cause, but the results are often hilarious (sorry, boys!) and it makes for some great fun. Itโs a fantastic way to raise money and awareness, as men notice the influx of facial hair in offices and bars, which kick starts much needed discussions about menโs health (letโs face it, men arenโt the best for talking about this). Raising awareness is a huge part of tackling prostate cancer as many men go undiagnosed, refusing to visit a doctor to discuss their symptoms.
Now in its fourth official year in Hong Kong, our local Movember campaign focuses on raising funds and awareness for prostate cancer in Hong Kong, and the funds raised stay here, which means the campaign serves to make a real difference in the local community.
