Hong Kong certainly has plenty of stylish boutiques to satisfy our insatiable appetite for fashion; however, one area you may have overlooked is Quarry Bay. Only four MTR stops away from the shopping mecca of Causeway Bay (home to boutique mecca Island Beverly), Quarry Bay offers a more peaceful alternative, with plenty of retail gems waiting to be explored. So we’ve rounded up five of the best Quarry Bay boutiques for your shopping pleasure… enjoy!
L’Strawberry boutique not only has a super desirable range of clothing, but is also charmingly decked out with a wooden chest of drawers and dresser, streams of pearls hanging from the ceiling and little (stuffed) birds tucked in the corners. L’Strawberry offers a select range of monochrome tops, tunics and dresses, mostly in black and white, so it’s the perfect place to build up your basics. Once you’ve picked your staple black dress for the office, you may well be tempted to accessorize with one of their scarves, bags, shoes or even a few diamonds! Prices ranges from $400-600 per garment, all imported from Japan.
L’Strawberry, 11C Hoi Kwong Street, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong; open Monday-Sunday, 12-8.30pm
Niva *now closed*
Sale alert! The already reasonably priced Niva is now selling its wares for less than $200 so it is well worth a rummage. Niva boasts a great selection of pretty patterned shift dresses and summery tops, as well as cuter-than-cute faux vintage pieces with lacy details and pleats. A good option for helping expand your wardrobe without making too large a dent in your wallet!
Niva, corner of Hoi Tai Street and Hoi Kwong Street, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong; open Monday-Saturday, 11.30am-8.30pm
If you have room to squeeze another pair of heels onto your shoe rack, then be sure to make a stop at Lass, which is only a few doors down from Niva. Their range of vibrantly coloured pumps, classic office heels and bejewelled sandals, all imported from Korea, are a feast for the eyes. At around $300 a pair, you will be hard pressed to leave the store with just one shoebox under your arm! If the shoes can’t tempt you, there are some beautiful full-length dresses, jumpsuits and other treasures on the racks.
Lass, 8 Hoi Kwong Street, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong; open Monday-Sunday, 12-9pm
Diana Le Luxe
A little more upmarket than its neighbours across the road, Diana Le Luxe offers a range of classic shift dresses, separates and an eye-catching selection of handmade jewellery. With prices averaging $800-1000 for a dress, Diana Le Luxe could be just the right place to find a little something special for that important client meeting or anniversary dinner. Their collection features a range of Italian and Japanese designers, so expect nicely tailored pieces. Loyal customers can also enjoy a VIP membership, which includes a 20% discount.
Diana Le Luxe, 24A Hoi Kwong Street, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong; open Monday-Saturday 12-8.30pm & Sunday, 12-8pm
Tucked away in Hoi Kwong Court, the pint-sized Suri is full of must-haves. It’s a tight squeeze if there’s more than two or three of you… however you’ll soon be distracted by the colourful range of Korean-imported frocks and tops! Their staff are very welcoming and friendly, and more than willing to coax you into the dressing room and offer their sound advice once you are in front of the mirror. Many of the tops and dresses come in small and medium (remember, small in Asia is really extra small for us Western women!) with prices ranging from $200-500 per item.
Suri, Shop 2A1, Hoi Kwong Court, 13-15 Hoi Kwong Street, Quarry Bay, Hong Kong; open Monday-Friday 12-8pm & Saturday, 12-6pm
So here’s hoping you’ve found a whole new place to enjoy a shopping spree!
