Here at Sassy we can’t wait to beat the heat and dive into a cool pool at some of the hottest parties in town (we’ve got our eye on the Studio City Summer Love Pool Party which is in two weeks!). But before you dive in, make sure you’re ready to party in style with these Pool Party Essentials!

1. Swimwear You Love

Okay, so obviously you need to be in swimwear if you’re going to a pool party. You’ve got to make the most of that water! But the most important thing is feeling comfortable and happy in what you’re wearing. Whether you’re excited to rock that new teeny, weeny polkadot bikini or happy to slip into a figure-flattering one piece, make sure you’re wearing swimwear that you’re ready to party in.

2. A Cute Coverup

You’ll be dipping in and dipping out to get another cocktail or dance by the DJ, so make sure you’ve got an easy-to-wear cover up to shove if you want to spend a bit of time out of the pool. We’re thinking airy cotton tunic with tassel details, flattering side splits and effortless, floaty kaftans that are perfect for lounging by the pool or walking along the beach. Just make sure it’s easy to pull on and off so you can slip in and out of the water whenever you fancy!

3. Comfy and Fashionable Sandals

No one wants to be wet dragging their feet through a hotel lobby, so have your most comfortable and again, easy-to-wear, sandals handy. There are so many cute lace up sandals and espadrille styles out for summer, and a pool party is the perfect time to try something fun (hello brightly coloured pom poms). If sandals will be too much of a hassle getting on and off, a good old pair of flip flops are all you need!

4. Sunglasses

Top off your pool party look with some sweet shades – we’re loving reflected lenses at the moment! You’ve got to keep your peepers protected from the bright sunlight, after all. Opt for something you won’t be too sad about dropping into the pool, as if you’re anything like us, you’ll end up dancing a little too hard and they’ll go flying off your face!

5. Waterproof Bag for Essentials

No one wants to drown their wallet or iPhone (how will you be able to take pool party snaps?!), so make sure you have a waterproof bag handy to store all your essentials. You can find special ‘dry bags’ at sports stores all around Hong Kong and we’d recommend getting something that will seal airtight if you want to make sure your stuff doesn’t get soaked.

6. Waterproof Makeup

Slapping on any old mascara or eyeliner is going to result in major streaks – not a good look. Invest in a waterproof mascara to make sure you don’t look like the girl from The Ring as you’re splashing around. You can even find long-wear foundation to keep your skin looking fresh and natural through the heat and humidity.

7. Sunscreen

Last but not least, arguably the most important pool party essentials of all – sunscreen! We all know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays, so lather up girls! Make sure you apply well in advance before you hit the pool, and don’t forget to top up once you’ve gone for a dip.
