Movember is back! Here are the best men’s health awareness (and moustache-related) events in town.
Men’s Health is not something we talk about enough. You’ve likely heard of Movember, but many people are still unaware of the whole story behind The Movember Foundation. It does incredible work that addresses some of the biggest health issues faced by men. The Movember Foundation is the only charity which tackles men’s health on a global scale, year round, taking on issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. It aims to change the face of men’s health, to encourage everyone to talk about the important stuff and to have a good time while they’re at it. This worldwide movement encourages men to get sponsored to grow a Moustache throughout November, and not only is it for a great cause, but the results are often hilarious (sorry, boys!) and it makes for some great fun. It’s a fantastic way to raise money and awareness, as the influx of facial hair in offices and bars kickstarts some much-needed discussions about men’s health. Raising awareness is a huge part of tackling issues such as prostate cancer, where many men go undiagnosed, refusing to visit a doctor to discuss their symptoms. Movember may be iconised by the moustache, but this foundation has so much more to it then just facial hair!
Now in its fifth official year in Hong Kong, our local Movember campaign focuses on raising funds and awareness for Men’s Health in Hong Kong, and the funds raised here stay here, which means the campaign serves to make a real difference in the local community.
