We’re half way through 2018 and summer is well and truly with us in Hong Kong, so this month, it’s all about being outside and soaking up the best of what the 852 has to offer. From the annual Dragon Boat Carnival, to beach days, surf festivals and music events, there’s plenty happening to keep us entertained, along with a number of fun charity events that are raising money for very worthy causes. So get your calendars ready, here’s what’s happening in Hong Kong this June!
Mark your calendars, Hong Kong Rum Fest 2018 is taking place from Friday, 1 to Saturday, 2 June. With an eclectic mix of international global rum ambassadors, master distillers and leading rum aficionados coming to Hong Kong, be sure to join in the festivities!

TEDxWanChai began at the confluence of creativity, innovation and community. This year the theme is EMERGENCE, where they will put a spotlight on changes that occur from the ground up. Speakers this year include individuals from multiple walks of life – from professional MMA fighters, veterinarians, musicians, rappers, journalists, and educators, to environmentalists, entrepreneurs, and advocates of LGBT+, refugee, and human rights.

With the weather heating up, it’s time for the pups of the city to retreat indoors and do what they do best… Petflix + Chill! The hit film, turned acclaimed musical, Catch Me If You Can is coming to Hong Kong this month for one weekend only! Get set for an epic day out in Pui O beach this month, with plenty of sand, sea, barbecue and beer at the International Surfing Day 2018! Established by the Surfrider Foundation in 2014, the day is in all about the celebration of surfing, along with raising awareness and support for our world’s beach and coastal environments.

Watch the world’s top dragon boat athletes battle it out at the CCB (Asia) Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Races — three days of racing that will fill the harbour with the sound of drummers, colourful boats, and cheering crowds pushing their favourite teams to the finish line. Enjoy a few beers and get your fill of local and international food at the fleet of food trucks.
