Arty Accessories!
Statement bags have long been a thing, but I bet you haven’t carried something like this before. Hong Kong brand The Dot brings a bag to brag about, as well as a mobile artist collab, to the arms of those in the know. Each collection launch features the works of various artists printed on a range of totes, wallets, clutches, and scarves. You can buy one piece or collect the whole set!
Suki Tsui founded the brand with a lovely printed scarf but soon expanded to the full range when she realised she was on to something special. What originally started as her cold calling more than 100 artists (and only two responding) now boasts a line at the door of artists looking to design for The Dot. In addition to the artists finding her she also scours the scene for up and coming talents to promote. Once an artist is chosen the process takes about six months of back and forth to select the artwork to be featured and map, scale, and colour it properly for each bag and accessory.

Suki’s favourite item is the tote, but she is quick to say that she never leaves home without a matching scarf for quick outfit updates. What else is in her bag? The essentials, of course: phone, charger and a pen and notebook for jotting down flashes of brilliance! You can probably spot her at Aberdeen Street Social in PMQ where she takes a host of meetings as she loves the outdoor scene. After all, her shop is at PMQ so she may as well support the home team. But be sure to check out The Dot’s new flagship at K11 shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui too.
So what should you buy? Customers tend to stick to a print and buy a few coordinating items for themselves. But when buying for friends and family they buy one shape in different prints. Personalisation is also on offer in the way of embossing, embroidery and leather press so you can really make the bag your own. Another way to indulge in these fabulous prints is to buy a scarf and then have it framed. This is a great way to add affordable art to your wall and you can frame multiple scarves from different artists resulting in quite an impressive display.
No matter how you choose to shop, this is a brand to keep your eye on! Not only for the stunning colors and eye catching prints but because there is sure to be another fabulous collaboration on the horizon. Bookmark their page and add their shop to your well-worn path through Soho. The Dot has its finger on the pulse and you will want to be in the know.
