From absolute classic white tennis shoes to trainers that promise to keep you comfortable and stable, and the go-to sports shoes for running, a good cardio workout, and hiking, we’ve narrowed it all down to the very best sneakers in Hong Kong, including brand-new releases, fun collaborations and our trusted favourites.

New Balance, 1906D – White, $1,119
It’s impossible to choose the best pair of New Balances! The brand behind the internet’s go-to Dad Shoe™, Sassy Mama Mansha loves a 327 sneaker and I am very devoted to my 725s. Our pick for this list is the 1906D, a gorgeous chunky all-white trainer, with a shock-absorbing outsole, added arch support, and midsole and heel cushioning. A true leather sneaker, this is great for stability and comfort.

Salomon, XT-6 – White, $1,315.44
Ideal for hiking, Salomon’s XT-6 sneakers are another Dad shoe that went accidentally Gen Z, which the brand probably owes to TikTok. They’re cool and athletic, with comfort and support thanks to the signature Agile Chassis™ system and Mud Contagrip® soles. As Net-A-Porter also suggests, I would say style with cargo pants, even if it means looking like a millennial (or a Gen Z on the cusp) trying very hard — who cares!

Nike, Air Force 1 ’07, $799
Now reader, I’ll be honest, my first pick (via our digital marketing manager April!) was actually a collaboration between Ambush and Nike — but it sold out as we were writing. Many tears. Our next sneakers choice would be a good old Air Force, like this Air Force 1 ’07. It’s all white, crisp leather, absolutely iconic, ready for customisation and pairs with literally everything. Ah, you don’t even need me to tell you.

Veja x Reformation Venturi Sneakers – Juta, $2,000
If you’ve been coveting a Veja sneaker (the fashion girlies love Veja!), then this thick-soled and super cushioned collaboration pair with It Girl brand Reformation is the one! It uses suede and J-mesh (jute and cotton) with an outsole made from 31 percent renewable Amazonian rubber. We went with Juta but Walnut feels perfect for anyone who loves earth tones and sweater weather.

Onitsuka Tiger, Mexico 66, $890
Our brilliant partnerships support executive Ira picked Onitsuka Tiger’s Mexico 66, a combination of the 1961 and 1966 Limber Up training shoe with modern design elements. It’s almost vintage. We love its sleek leather look, a perfect slimmer shoe for those who can’t stand a chunky sneaker. Go for any colour — we picked this one with pink and navy accents.

Converse, Chuck Taylor All Star, $319
Okay, I’m not a skater rat, but I’ve consumed enough American high school teen films to call this a classic low-top pick. Converse’s Chuck Taylors boast a durable canvas upper, padded footbed and a signature rubber toe cap. We’re plugging a black or white pair, but there’s a real fun array of colours to choose from — and maybe collect!

Vans, Authentic Embroidered Check Loden Green, $599
Aida, one of our designers, picked this beautiful green version of the Vans Authentic (the brand’s original silhouette!). First introduced in 1966, these updated sneakers have that slim canvas old-school vibe with a fresh green upper and neutral pops on the laces and foxing tape. Don’t miss the checkerboard detailing on the heel.

Nike, Air Jordan 1 Retro HI OG, $1,399
A pick from our designer Joy, it’s hard to go wrong with a pair of Jordans. These Retro HIG OG sneakers reimagine Mike’s first signature model in a soft pink colourway. It features the same premium materials, cushioning and a padded collar for even more support. So if you’re prone to bruising and ankle pain, this is the one for you.

I may have gotten a little carried away with aesthetics over athletics, but this sneaker pick will make up for it! Under Armour’s Surge 3 is light and breathable so you can keep moving without stopping. It features a breathable mesh upper, cushioning around the ankle collar and a responsive midsole. Time to take on some cardio!

Salomon, ACS – Silver, $1440.60
Another Salomon pick! This time it’s ideal for running, snug and supportive with grippy soles for every surface. But what really gets me is this colour, a gorgeous chrome silver that looks like jewellery for your feet. Made of tonal grey mesh and faux leather, I’d pair these sneakers with literally every cool-toned outfit.

A pick from our editor Fashila, the NOVABLAST 3 running shoe features a geometric design on the upper and midsole and comes in a nice array of bright and muted colours. What’s really the kicker here is its weight — super light and so comfortable. You can expect the tongue to stay snug and the heel to support your feet as you run. And it’s nicely cushioned.

adidas, Stan Smith, $899
Hong Kong’s favourite tennis shoe! There was a time in the mid-2010s when you’d spot a pair of white Stan Smiths with the signature green accent on every street corner. I, myself, have cycled through at least five pairs. For our final pick, I like this white version that features a soft blue denim patch at the back, a departure from its regular all-leather look. It’s so sleek and versatile!
