Sassy Guest Blogger: UK style goes global

7 May, 2010

It is a rainy day here in Hong Kong which means, it is the perfect day to go shopping… on the internet that is! Our guest blogger Kate, has made things easy for us and is revealing which UK brands are offering international delivery to the streets of Hong Kong.

Recently, the lovely Sassy ladies revealed that British style icon Topshop had expanded their international delivery to include Hong Kong. As if this wasn’t balm enough to the soul of the weary HK shopper, sister site Wallis has recently upped its game with a gorgeous new collection designed by 80’s supermodel Yasmin Le Bon and are offering the same great international delivery options.

With all this in mind, I thought I’d do some more digging around to see if I could up the internet shopping ante just a little more.

First up is a real find for lovers of well-priced, innovative design. Laden.co.uk were recently endorsed by none other than UK Prime Minister’s wife, Sarah Brown, but, depending on your political persuasion, don’t hold that against them! The site features the very best of independent British design at very affordable prices. Currently sitting in my shopping basket are the Gold Mice Skinny Waist BeltAva Dress and 1920’s Brogues. Delivery starts from a very reasonable £9 / HK$105 and takes 2-5 days.

Another great site offering lots of style inspiration is ASOS.com. Previously ‘As Seen on Screen’, ASOS used to peddle tacky celeb copies at dirt cheap prices and were best avoided unless you were 14 or really had a thing for shiny neon Lycra. Recently, however, they’ve seriously upped their game and now have various sub-sites offering reduced designerbeauty and kids branded clothing at great prices. Current site favourites include Acne Denim, stunning Emma Cook dresses and exclusive diffusion lines by House of Holland and Mawi. Check out the Outlet section of the site for reduced seasonal items. Standard 11 day or Express 5 day delivery options are available at £10.50 / HK$ 123 and £20 / HK$230 respectively.

Last but not least, Figleaves.com have both a US and UK site, which is great for sizing and working out prices! Offering beautiful underwear, including the notoriously-hard-to-find-in-HK larger bra sizes, the site is super-easy to navigate and offers lots of inspiration. There are bridal, maternity and swimwear sections and range and prices both stack up well.Given the relatively small size of what you’re buying, shipping is understandably quite reasonable! £5.50 / HK$65 gets you 5-10 day delivery, increasing rather steeply to £20 / HK$230 for 3-5 day express by FedEx.

Why not treat yourself? After all, who doesn’t love receiving that big package in the post…
