Team Sassy’s Favourite Takeaways In Hong Kong

11 Westside

Maura’s Pick

Why I love it: While 11 Westside is a favourite date night place of mine, I have to admit I am a true homebody at heart. So most of the time I enjoy its food from the comfort of my couch, complete with an episode of A Million Little Things.

My must-order dish: Always the Guacamole ($180). I have been known to eat the whole thing and leave nothing for my husband. We’re also fans of the Al Pastor Taco ($48) and Carne Asada Fries ($154), which usually both make their way on to our order.

Available on Deliveroo and foodpanda.

Le Petit Saigon

Daisy’s Pick

Why I love it: The Le Petit Saigon takeaway menu isn’t huge, but the selection it does have is really good. It has the best tofu bánh mì I’ve had outside Vietnam (and probably ever!). My advice? Don’t skimp on the sides, the Potato Gems (basically mini hash browns) come with a delicious spicy mayo dipping sauce. The whole experience is both flavourful and comforting at the same time.

My must-order dish: The Bánh Mì Chay (Tofu Bánh Mì, $88) with a side of Potato Gems With Spicy Mayo ($38).

Available on Black Sheep GO.

Le Petit Saigon, 16 Wing Fung Street, Wan Chai, Hong Kong, 2455 2499, www.lepetitsaigon.com.hk

La Brata

Why I love it: La Brata does amazingly authentic Italian food. I love its great cold cuts and pizza.

My must-order dish: The Burrata Italia ($268).

Available on Deliveroo.

KTM Bar and Kitchen

Sam’s Pick

Why I love it: I’ve loved this family-run Nepalese and Indian restaurant ever since it opened near my apartment at the end of 2018, so a takeaway from there is one of my favourite weekend treats. KTM‘s momos and curries are both delicious and great value, and there are loads of options to suit veggies and meat-eaters alike.

My must-order dish: The veggie Momos (from $44), Bara ($67) and Palak Paneer ($90) are my go-tos!

Available on Deliveroo and foodpanda, or directly from the restaurant (just give them a call).

Yau Yuen Siu Tsui

Marie’s Pick

Why I love it: A local Chinese joint which makes the most amazing Biang Biang noodles and dumplings, fresh on site. There are so many customisable options and all for a great price! It often gets very crowded at lunch, so delivery is a great way to enjoy its food without the queue.

My must-order dish: The Biang Biang Noodles with Chive and Pork Dumplings ($59). I also love the delicious Shanxi Pita Bread with Stewed Pork ($29) – after having tried the real deal in China, I can confidently say that this one is just as yummy!

Available on Deliveroo (Central and Yau Ma Tei).

R&R Bagels

Lydia’s Pick

Why I love it: R&R Bagels has everything from breakfast bites to classic sandwich bagels. Bagel places are quite hard to come by in Hong Kong and this pick perfectly combines quality and convenience. On top of that, the store freshly bakes its own bagels every day!

My must-order dish: The Sliced Strawberry & Honey ($70) or the Smoked Salmon ($90).

Available on Deliveroo

Hooked

Caroline’s Pick

Why I love it: Hooked is a great option for when you are in need of some comfort food. All the fish is top quality and comes in perfectly thin and crispy batter (there’s no greasy film left on the top of your mouth after eating here!) and the chips are top notch too. We also like that the food comes wrapped up in paper packaging so it cuts down on plastic waste. Just remember it’s Pay Me or cash only!

My must-order dish: The Breadcrumbed Blue Cod (from $85) – much as we love the batter, you have to try the breadcrumbs. To complete your order add a Half Scoop Of Chips ($15), Mushy Peas ($15) and Tartare Sauce ($5). Plus a sneaky bottle of beer or wine to go from the well-stocked fridge!

Sassy Tip: Don’t forget to take a look at the fresh fish shop next door too, where you can stock up on some of the best tasting salmon we’ve had (you can even have it grilled for you on the premises if you’re looking for a healthier takeaway option)!

Available to pick up in store. Call to place your order in advance so it’s ready to collect when you arrive!

Paisano's

Alex’s Pick

Why I love it: It’s not the most healthy choice but you can’t go wrong with a great pizza option. I don’t eat this everyday, of course, but this is my go-to comfort food in any situation – especially now! Paisano‘s is a tried-and-tested Sassy favourite; good selection, reliable taste and doesn’t break the bank either. Pizza perfect!

My must-order dish: I’m a regular “Four-Cheese” ($45 per slice) orderer every single time. On very special occasions, I might throw in a side of fries ($20) for an extra carb-overload once the baby is asleep. Netflix, pizza and chill!

Available on foodpanda (Central, Mong Kok, Sai Kung, Tsim Sha Tsui and Western).

Anita’s Pick

Why I love it: I love everything about Uncle Desi‘s. From the presentation (with eco-friendly packaging) to the colourfully-dressed delivery boys, the musical card that accompanies the food that makes me break out into a bhangra (Punjabi dance) and, of course, the delicious food.

My must-order dish: The Dal Tadka Fry ($88) and Paneer Butter Masala ($98). Non-veggies will love the Butter Chicken ($128).

Ester’s Pick

Why I love it: Triple O’s has the Impossible Burger which is definitely my favourite. It’s satisfying in every way possible as it looks just like a real burger and tastes like one too. I’m not a vegetarian but I do struggle to eat red meat, so this has quickly become my go-to.

Seoul Bros

Jess N’s Pick

Why I love it: I make a point of treating myself to a Seoul Bros once a month without fail, it’s that good. The fusion flavours are always on point and, considering the generous portions, it’s great value for money too. I recommend ordering with a friend so you can go all out with the sides.

My must-order dish: Chicken Banh Mi ($53) with a side of Kimchi Fries ($35). I also love the Tteokbokki ($42), which comes with moreish bacon bits!

La Rotisserie

Nicole’s Pick

Why I love it: If I’m looking for something filling, my favourite go-to restaurant for takeaway is La Rotisserie. I usually go for a tray of its delicious roasted chicken along with a tub of gravy. It’s A LOT of food and I almost always have leftovers, but that’s not a problem. I like to use the leftover meat to make a chicken salad which I’ll have for lunch the next day.

My must-order dish: 1/4 Roasted Chicken Set ($99) which comes with steamed veggies and soup – and extra gravy!

Available on Deliveroo (Quarry Bay, Sai Ying Pun, Sheung Wan and Wan Chai).

Other Ways To Show Support

So your favourite restaurant doesn’t do takeaway or deliver to you because of where you live? Or perhaps it’s so small, delivery just isn’t an option. No matter, there are still plenty of other ways to show your support:

  • How about buying a gift voucher for use in the future? You’ll be giving them some much needed revenue when it matters most and you’ll get to look forward to a tasty celebratory meal when this is all over.
  • Head onto OpenRice, TripAdvisor or Facebook and leave a review for the bars and restaurants you love. We’re sure you rely on reviews as much as we do!
  • Make an effort to engage with any content that your favourite venues are continuing to share on social media. The more likes and comments they get, the more likely they are to grab the attention of others who are able to order from them at this time.
