Coming this month to ifc mall is popular Japanese hamburger steak chain Hikiniku To Come. Here, fresh beef is minced and shaped on-site into perfectly plump patties that get thrown on the charcoal grill a la minute – pair them with a bowl of steaming white rice fresh from a Hagama clay pot, a raw egg, a variety of housemade relishes and you’re set! Note that the restaurant employs a ticket-based reservation system, similar to its posts in Japan, which means you’ll have to pick up a same-day ticket from the restaurant for a seat at lunch or dinner.

Make your way up to the world’s highest bar for a finger-licking good time! Sri Lanka’s famed Ministry of Crab is making its Hong Kong debut this month, with a limited-time pop-up that offers a mouth-watering menu featuring mud crab and freshwater prawn flown in from Sri Lanka. The five-course dinner includes Crab Liver Pate, Avocado Crab Salad, Garlic Chili Prawn, Pepper Crab, Coconut Crème Brûlée.

Sophia Loren House

Wan Chai’s four-storey heritage building Woo Cheong Pawn House has been taken over by the first international outpost of legendary Italian actress Sophia Loren’s burgeoning restaurant empire. The themed restaurant takes its cue from 1960s and 1970s Italy and the era of Federico Fellini’s La Dolce Vita. Sophia Loren House comprises four dining concepts: a street-level Neapolitan pizzeria, an Italian seafood restaurant on the first floor, a retro 1970s-themed dance floor on the third floor, and a cocktail bar on the rooftop.

Prince and the Peacock

In latest Black Sheep news, the restaurant group has opened an opulent new Indian restaurant inspired by the royal houses of India’s princely states called Prince and the Peacock. This comes as a part of its three-phase project to revitalise Tai Kwun’s century-old The Magistracy. After the successful opening of Magistracy Dining Room and Botanical Garden, this concept will be helmed by New Punjab Club’s Chef Palash Mitra, who is set to deliver elevated expressions of regional Indian dishes spanning multiple eras of the country’s history.

If you were lucky enough, you would’ve scored a $1 slice and $10 beer on the day of Sonny’s grand opening. Join the queue outside this hot new Singapore import on Hollywood Road, which serves up as-authentic-as-it-gets-here New York-style pizza (available to purchase in slices and 12-inch or 16-inch pies), hotdogs, soft-serve ice cream by local creamery Milk, and Black Kite Brewery beer on tap.

Jimmy’s Kitchen Reopens

After 92 years serving the HK public and closing its doors in 2020, the iconic Jimmy’s Kitchen has reopened on Pedder Street. The new space is primed for the return of the restaurant’s famously long lunches and sociable evenings, seating up to 160 diners across a casual dining lounge, cocktail bar, crudo bar, main dining rooms and a cosy private dining room. Busy in the open kitchen is Hong Kong-born Executive Chef Russell Doctrove, who has revived iconic dishes like Jimmy’s Chicken Madras, Chicken Supreme Kiev and Signature Baked Alaska, while adding a handful of more modern and lighter dishes to the menu.
