Laura Mercier Sun Drenched Collection

11 June, 2010

Laura Mercier is one of the unsung heroines of the beauty world – a brand without a whole lot of fuss and self-promotion, which just gets on with being quietly efficient and just generally pretty wonderful. My makeup bag is actually quite dominated by Laura Mercier products when I think about it, with eye shadows and eyebrow pencils being my absolute must-haves from the brand. Their lipglosses are also pretty fab, as they come in a huge range of wearable and non-scary colours which look on the lips exactly like they do in the tube.

I’ll definitely be checking out their new Sun Drenched Collection (and let’s face it, we could all do with being drenched by sun instead of the endless rain these days!), as it looks to be packed with just the kind of fab and functional products that Laura Mercier is known for. Inspired by this season’s ethnic elements in fashion, and the bright saturated colours we saw on the runway, the Sun Drenched Collection is all about healthy radiant sun-kissed skin with tribal brights on lips and eyes and warm cheeks.

The two products I’m especially interested to try out are the Bronzing Pressed Powders (HK$280), and the Body Bronzing Makeup (HK$330), as I find it tricky to find good formulations that can work on my pale skin. The Bronzing Pressed Powders come in two new shades: Sun Bronze which enhances any suntan for a sunkissed look, and Dune Bronze which is for fair to medium skin tones. The Body Bronzing Makeup adds a temporary streak-free golden glow to all skin tones, which we all know can hide a whole host of imperfections. Containing Green Tea extract and with Laura Mercier’s Almond Coconut fragrance, this doesn’t sound like your average tanning product…

If you try out anything from the collection, let us know what you recommend!
