Four ways to wear with Kim: White Shirt Style

4 May, 2015

When Sassy asked me to divulge my “ways to wear” wardrobe secrets, I revealed a little known fact that my wardrobe is full of white shirts. I can’t stop buying them either, from slinky silk blouses to starch collared bell-flared shirts, and short round neck basics. This should be every girl’s fail-safe go-to, to brighten up a cloudy day and steer away from default black. To showcase the versatility of this wardrobe staple I headed to Electric Sekki‘s showroom and composed four looks to provide a little inspiration, to take you from every day, to the office, a cocktail party and back to a lazy Sunday at home. Read on to find out how to wear a simple white shirt four ways!

kim1My weekend get up
Layers are good way to spice your outfit. The weather will always be a step ahead of you, so you need to be prepared. On a typical weekend, I like to match my trusted cut shorts with a simple white shirt, layered with a little textured tank to keep my torso warm. I’m miserable when I’m cold, so I like to carry a lightweight rain coat which doubles as a cardigan to protect me when transitioning between humidity and air-con.

I’m wearing: COS white shirt, Minkpink shorts, Nanushka tank and Zara coat. Get the look with this River Island shirt from Asos.

When heading into the office, my motto is to dress a little smarter than the environment you work in. That way you compliment the environment around you, but also feel a little boosted, which gives you that extra bit of confidence to be at your best. Here, I’d team a soft silk blouse with a tight high-waisted pencil skirt. Keep your shirt buttoned all the way to the top, pronouncing the cut and detail of the shirt’s collar a little more. When I keep my outfits simple and corporate, I always bring a little ‘me’ back into the outfit through accessorising with delicate gold jewellery I’ve accumulated during my travels.

I’m wearing: Camilla and Marc white shirt, D.efect skirt, See by Chloe shoes. Get the look with this Goldie blouse from Asos.

kim7Sunday lounging
After a long week, I love nothing better than sitting back and enjoying some time on my terrace. A few hours where I have cleared my diary and have nothing planned but quality time spent at home, catching up with my reading, checking out Instagram and listening to my favourite playlists. When relaxing at home, comfort is key. I like to throw on my oversized ACNE white shirt, roll the sleeves up so they touch my elbows, and lounge around in a light pair of silk shorts. Silk is perfect for heavy, humid weather. I like to throw on a men’s cardigan once the night sets in, for some reason I find them much more cosy than a little girly number.

I’m wearing: Acne white shirt, Intimissimi shorts. Get the look with this 1205 oversized shirt from Net-a-Porter.

For those event invitations that take you out of the office and into a cocktail party or event, you’ll need a sophisticated look with an element of fun. I like to play to my feminine side and dig out a colourful structured skirt, paired with a slinky white blouse to provide that formal touch. That way I feel comfortable and special. White works for both day and night and keeps the eye on the patterns and colours in my loud skirt. I’ve teamed this here with white Chloe sandals and a simple studded clutch.

I’m wearing: Camilla and Marc white shirt, Kenzo skirt, See by Chloe sandals and a Rachael Ruddick clutch. Get the look with this French Connection blouse from Asos.
