Think you know what makes a perfect brew or have no idea where to start? We’re learning all about the art of coffee tasting with NOC Coffee’s expert baristas.
How many of you need your morning brew to start your day? Countless of us can’t get going without a cup of coffee, with seemingly every other person on the morning commute carrying their (reusable!) coffee cup. It’s no secret that our city has a huge coffee culture, with coffee houses on every street corner, but have you ever thought about what goes into your morning cuppa? From understanding the different aromas, acidity, sweetness, and the all-important flavour, we turned to the pros at NOC Coffee Co. to understand a little more about the humble cup of coffee.
With six cafes on Hong Kong Island, NOC has well and truly taken the 852 by storm, and are serving up some of the best coffee in the city. Recognisable for its chic and simple aesthetic, NOC takes the art of coffee seriously, with all six locations serving its own house-roasted speciality coffees that come fresh from its Roastery in Sai Ying Pun. But NOC want to take coffee drinking to the next level, and help Hong Kongers understand the complexities of the drink, and show our daily brew in a whole new light!
NOC understand that choosing the right coffee can be a little overwhelming, and many of us don’t know what to look for when selecting our brew. With the belief that coffee drinking is a personal experience, and that there’s no right or wrong answer when it comes to what “good coffee” is, NOC is helping to change the coffee culture in the city, push us to try new flavours and maybe even convert a few coffee-phobes along the way. NOC gives all customers a choice of either it’s signature fruity or nutty blends in store (and for purchase to take away for home brewing!), and if you’re unsure on where to start, you can always ask to sample the different flavours before settling on your favourite. If you’re keen to delve a little deeper, NOC’s baristas can help you to identify the seven characteristics of coffee (aroma, acidity, sweetness, body, flavour, balance and aftertaste), and how to spot the blend you like the most.
