Go green, girls!
With numerous restaurants, street food stalls and cuisines on offer, it’s safe to say that most Hong Kongers share an insatiable love of food. But as much as we enjoy tucking into sumptuous dishes at the hottest restaurants around town, it’s worth remembering that what you eat does have an impact on the planet. There’s no hiding how much pollution and fossil fuels are created by the meat industry, in fact, producing just one hamburger uses enough fossil fuel to drive a small car 20 miles. Pretty crazy, right? It may not be obvious in our everyday lives but there’s a vast carbon footprint created by the food industry. You may be a diehard meat eater, or just a once or twice a week kinda girl, but the proof is in the facts and we think it’s time to start eating more consciously!
And so do Lan Kwai Fong Group and social-enterprise organisation Green Monday. In a bid to promote green, healthy and sustainable living, 17 restaurants around LKF have created a vegetarian menu and a ‘green’ cocktail to be available from Friday, 14 October onwards. The special menus include unique and creative dishes that will open up your palate to healthy, conscious eating without compromising on taste – it’s the best of both worlds!
Check out the Lan Kwai Fong restaurants supporting Green Monday below (although deals are available every day!):
How do I get involved?
It’s as easy as heading down to any of those restaurants and ordering the special vegetarian dish. Why not let us know how it goes, and what dishes you like best by using #GreenLKF and #SassyHK so we can take a peek at all the veggie delights you are tucking into? Time to go green, girls!
