Must Order: Dan Dan Xiao Long Bao and Yunnan Black Truffle Crispy-Skin Chicken
Newly opened all-day-dining resto, Dim Sum Library has taken on classic dim sum favourites and given them a 2017 make-over! The space itself reflects the cool and modern cuisine, with dimmed lighting and stylish interiors – you would hardly know that you’re in the heart of Pacific Place (conveniently just metres away from Zara!).
One of my favourite dishes was the Dan Dan Xiao Long Bao ($48 for 3). An expertly made Xiao Long Bao, with a juicy and flavoursome filling, which also packed a quite the kick! Other dim sum favourites were the Black Truffle Har Gau ($48 for 3), with plump and meaty shrimp and just a subtle hint of truffle, along with the Wagyu Beef Puffs with Black Pepper ($88 for 3), which celebrated tender and peppery beef, encased in a deliciously crispy shell.
If you’re after a heartier dinner and fancy exploring some of the bigger dishes on the menu, don’t leave without trying the Yunnan Black Truffle Crispy-Skin Chicken ($195 for a half chicken). The truffle flavour was not at all overpowering, but it did bring to the table a wonderful aroma when the dish was served! The chicken was so full of flavour and amazingly succulent, contrasting with the perfectly crisp skin. It’s also served off the bone, so a perfect choice for all of those who are lazy don’t like to waste anything!
For something different to compliment the more traditional dishes, also make sure to try the super light Crispy Aubergine Tossed with Salted Fish and Chinese Chives ($108). Like aubergine fries, which came as a tower of jenga pieces, we couldn’t help ourselves from going back for more.
Go for an elaborate dim sum lunch and make sure to check out the Mahjong Parlour, discretely concealed at the back of the restaurant. Nibble on some delicious dumplings and sip on the masterfully made cocktails, whilst enjoying a casual (or competitive) game of Mahjong!
