FRIENDS WITH BENEFIT
I’m already anticipating Benefit Cosmetics’ launch of their new comprehensive skincare line B.right! Radiant Skincare next month. The brand’s signature cheeky and eye-catching packaging is just the tip of the iceberg. These products range from simple must-haves like Benefit B.right! Total Moisture Facial Cream and Benefit B.right! Foamingly Clean Facial Wash, but the bottle I’m crazy for is their new Instant Comeback Facial Serum. It’s stock full of vitamin C & E to protect skin from free-radical damage (a.k.a. cell damage from external sources like polluted air and tobacco smoke) and Gotu Kula extract to support collagen production for firmer looking skin. Bottom-line? Add this elixir to your skincare regimen to restore and maintain your youthful and radiant complexion.
Another Benefit launch I’m coveting this month is the Benefit They’re Real Push-Up Eyeliner. I swear by Benefit They’re Real Mascara (an especially great buy in travel size), so my expectations were high for this unassuming pen. The thicker consistency is a bit tricky to handle at first, but the gel formula is long-lasting and smudge-resistant – perfect for my constant fight against Hong Kong humidity. This is admittedly my favourite product in this news flash and hands down the most innovative eyeliner I’ve seen in a while!
Naturally, Burt’s Bees’ no-nonsense approach to beauty has been proven successful for a solid thirty years. From the original beeswax Honey Lip Balm to their classic skincare line, I love it all, but right now I’m especially loving the refreshing Burt’s Bees Garden Tomato Toner to help minimise pores and control grease on combination to oily complexions. Burt’s Bees affordable and natural products definitely gets Sassy’s stamp of approval. Happy 30th anniversary!
As if their signature gold packaging isn’t enough to make you swoon, YSL has launched a Couture Palette to offer us an easy-to-use eyeshadow palette with a dose of designer inspiration. This collection includes eleven different palettes featuring five shadows in each, with colours ranging from versatile nudes to funky greens. The individual colours are separated by a bold black outline; upon closer inspection, even that is a wearable shade in itself. Now that’s attention to detail.
Available at Yves Saint Laurent Beauty Boutique: Shop 2117, Level 2, Elements; 3192 4338. See all YSL stores in Hong Kong here.
What did a Grecian summer smell like in 1990? Diptyque Paris has launched a new fragrance collection – Figuier – that encapsulates the essence of Mediterranean air, fresh figs and rolling hills in one bottle. We may be trapped in the sticky smog of Hong Kong, but a refreshing shower with a bar of Figuier soap will leave you reminiscing about the Greece trip you never took.

Sophisticated anti-aging treatments can now be as convenient as a single bottle labelled NuBo Voile, thanks to NuBo’s founding matriarch, Marina Shcherbinina, who puts pioneering technology at the forefront of her brand’s state-of-the-art formulas. In this sleek pink tube is a one-minute leave-on mask treatment that promises to diminish the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The secret lies in its main ingredient, bio-peptides, that encourage production of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and relax your skin.
Exclusively available at Harvey Nichols LANDMARK Beyond Beauty, Harvey Nichols Pacific Place Beyond Beauty and Beauty Bazaar Beyond Beauty, blog.harveynichols.com.hk
After a long day at work and a sweaty trek home, I turn to Sabon bath products to help me unwind. This Israeli brand’s Lavender Apple Body Scrub contains Dead Sea salt to for gentle exfoliation and natural oils from the Amazon rainforest for a luxurious cleansing and moisturising effect (I recommend using this right before you lather on a fake tan!). Sabon’s elegant packaging makes their Harbour City boutique a favourite pitstop of mine when shopping for gifts to impress.
