The festive menus at The Murray, Hong Kong have you covered!
We think it’s fair to say that 2020 will certainly be a year to remember (even if it’s for all the wrong reasons), so we don’t think we are the only ones counting down excitedly to Christmas to help bring some seasonal cheer into our lives! With travel largely off the agenda, most of us will be staying put in Home Kong this year, so it’s time to start thinking about where to drink, dine and be merry. Enter The Murray, Hong Kong! Conveniently situated in the heart of Central, this 5-star gem has plenty to tempt the tastebuds. You can check out its full offerings for key festive dates here (including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day), but here’s a little taster of what to expect. Remember, seats are limited, so don’t wait to book!
It’s no secret that we’re big fans of The Murray’s flamboyant rooftop offering, Popinjays. Its European cuisine and expertly-crafted cocktails (along with fab views of the city), will certainly give you a reason to get your glad rags on. Whether you decide to go for Christmas dinner (with langoustines, roasted venison and slow cooked dover sole), or a semi-buffet alfresco brunch (from Saturday, 19 December) complete with sashimi and ceviche, and a whole roasted ham at its live carving station, you won’t be disappointed.
There’s also a great modern bistro menu on offer at The Tai Pan. We’re salivating at the thought of the roasted peking duck station that’s part of its Christmas Day brunch, and you’ll have to drag us away from the cheese and charcuterie boards. If you’re a traditionalist, don’t worry, roasted organic turkey roulade makes an appearance on its Christmas dinner menu too, while the impressive five-course New Year’s Eve Gala Dinner boasts the likes of Hokkaido scallop with oyster ceviche, pistachio crusted foie gras torchon and black truffle steamed wild turbot.
If you’re more of an afternoon tea fan, why not choose to indulge in the special festive-themed tea set at either Popinjays or Garden Lounge? From Monday, 30 November to Tuesday, 5 January (priced at $698 for two), expect delights such as gingerbread-candied orange scones with clotted cream (yes please!), molasses cookies and melted leek and black truffle tartlets with brie. For added convenience, Garden Lounge’s afternoon tea is available for takeaway, and priced at $528 for two.
Finally, those looking to celebrate in the comfort of home this Christmas should make a stop at The Murray’s Christmas Market (from Wednesday, 16 to Sunday, 27 December) for seasonal pantry essentials, as well as put in an order for the hotel’s takeaway free-range organic turkey, complete with all the trimmings ($1,988).
Whatever you’re looking for this Christmas, you’ll have a holiday to remember in the contemporary chic surroundings of The Murray. We’ll be the ones with a cocktail in both hands at Popinjays – see you there!
