Summer Shoooes

19 March, 2010
Spring has sprung! Hurray! It looks like we have a lovely weekend ahead of us, and (to paraphase Alfred Lord Tennyson) in the Spring, a young woman’s fancy turns to thoughts of shoes. We all know that accessories make the outfit, and by adding some statement shoes to a plain ensemble, you can bring last summer’s dresses right into 2010. There are 3 shoe styles we’ve got our eye right now which we think can carry you through the coming season with ease. Sure, you could trot out last year’s gladiators (they’re hot for yet another season), but sometimes you just have to have new shoes!

1. A Pair of Pom-Pom Sandals. To be worn with a simple block-colour shift dress, or to dress up leggings and a baggy T, these will be your go-to daytime look with pretty painted tanned tooties. The most to-die-for are of course the Lanvin’s (bottom left), followed by the Bottega’s on the bottom right. Affordable alternatives are Gap’s (you can buy them online to be shipped to Hong Kong via Asos.com) ruffled strappy numbers (top right) and for a bit more foot coverage, we just love these peep-toe flats from Report. Wouldn’t these just look great with cropped jeans and a white shirt for a pre-Summer junk trip?

2. A pair of Espadrille Wedges. These will be your summer “glamour shoe”, for wafting around in your colourful maxi dress, clinging micro-mini or chic harem pants. Deceptively comfortable, they’ll still give your ankle a nasty turn if you happen to step off the curb the wrong way. Top left is Miu Miu, bottom left is Jimmy Choo (oh man, these are the ones that do it for me and wouldn’t they just go with everything?). Top right is Charles by Charles David and bottom right is actually Juicy Couture.

3. A pair of Pointy Flats. We’ve been a-round for far too long now – it’s time to get back to the point! More flattering than ballet slippers, the pointy flat will elongate your legs and give your foot a slim and graceful shape (watch out though big-foot – they’ll also make your foot look longer). This shoe will slot right into your working wardrobe, but also work with a skinny jean on days off. Top left is Topshop (now shipping to Hong Kong – woop woop!), Top Right is the always-delectable Loeffler Randall, Bottom Right and Bottom Left: Miu Miu!
