FLY – The latest from Buzz Concepts

Last night we met with the team from Buzz Concepts at their latest hotspot FLY. FLY recently opened in the place where Roxie lived on Ice House Street. We really liked Roxie and had a great time at our Sassy Hour there last February so prior to our meeting I was a bit in mourning over the switcheroo the Buzz Concepts team did on us. My sadness was instantly cured upon arrival when I was greeted with one of their signature spicy drinks (it was very good and totally unique) and a fun gossip session with the Buzz Concepts team.

FLY will most likely be known for its late night scene and we expect it will be a hit with house and techno lovers as the plan is to highlight different DJ’s and be a bit more experimental with their sound. The decor is dark with black leather couches and a bit of colour is mixed in throughout using LED lights and some cool graffiti art on the wall.

My absolute favourite part of the venue though is their porch area which opens up onto Ice House Street. In contrast to the inside, FLY’s porch is light and airy and they have two swings in the shape of leafs that you can just chill on while sipping a happy hour cocktail or smoking their shisha pipe.

While we were catching up on different things we had planned for the year the FLY team told us about their Iron Bartender Extravaganza event that they will be holding monthly. Tomorrow night’s Bartender Extravaganza will be a showdown between “Team Extravaganza” and “Team Buzz” and each team will compete behind the bar for 2 hours to see who can earn the most money via drink/bottle orders. The winning team will be rewarded with a bottle of champagne and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to charity. We hear a “Team HK Mag” vs. “Team Time Out” could up next and we even threw our hats in for a possible “Team Sassy” vs. “Team NecesCity” showdown.
