Springtime to us means seasonal fruits and veggies, and we love when a menu reflects our need for greens. Executive Chef, Anthony Burd curated Mercato’s spring dining menu, and the dishes on offer are fresh, light and absolutely delicious. Here’s a peek into the newest menu items you won’t want to miss…

Three new appetizers are a sumptuous range of all-time classics elevated with Italian flair, and include the Madai Sashimi and Spring Pea Salad with Buttermilk Vinaigrette and Lemon Balm, Kale Salad with Spring Peas, Soft Boiled Egg and Green Chili-Mint Dressing, and Endive and Sugar Snap Pea Salad, Parmesan Dressing and Herbs. Our mouths are watering just writing those!

Mains are hearty but not too filling (because when you see the dessert menu items, you’ll know you have to keep room for those!). We sampled the Pancetta, Ricotta and Spring Green Pizza with Green Chili and Herbs which had a crisp crust and was packed with flavour. Vegetarians will delight in the Ricotta Agnolotti with Spring Vegetables and Pistachio Pesto, which was both creamy, crunchy and super tasty.

Our personal favourites were the Porcini Crusted Salmon, Warm Leek Vinaigrette and Herbs and the Crispy Skin Chicken, Braised Potatoes with Lemon, Golden Onion, Green Chili and Herbs. The crust on the salmon added a deliciously nutty flavour, and the leeks and herbs were the perfect complement to the fish. The chicken was crispy and moist, and the bed of potatoes was an excellent pairing.

Although at this point we were pretty full, we had to try the Hazelnut Chocolate Fondant, which was a chocolate lover’s delight. The creamy centre oozed from within, and it was paired with a scoop of ice cream, making experience even more amazing. Keeping up with the fresh spring tradition, the White Chocolate Semi Freddo with Mixed Berries was light and sweet, the perfect end to a fantastic meal.
