Editor Obsessions A/W 2011: Coats

14 October, 2011
We eased into the new season gently with our wish-list post about nail varnishes – something we could actually transition to even when the temperature was still hot hot hot! With the cooler weather kicking in though, we feel like it’s finally time to address the absolute must-have for winter – a coat! Some might say it’s not a total must in Hong Kong, but you know that when January rolls around you’ll be grateful for it, especially as you’ll probably be wearing it in your apartment if you don’t have heat…

Our blogger team team reveal the pieces they’re absolutely lusting after… Here goes! Anh says, “This Vivienne Westwood wool coat is so versatile — just throw on over jeans, pants and skirts with black tights and booties! It looks so warm and comfy too.”

Maura feels like she spent all last winter wearing black, so this winter she’s breaking out of her style rut and going for some warm-coloured pieces – she’s drooling over this Rick Owens buttery-soft leather jacket!

Tania of T Like Bubble Tea has her eye on this edgy Alexander Wang Suede Vest – perfect for this time before the cold kicks in, and for layering with knitwear or over long-sleeved shirts and dresses… It would add a huge punch to an otherwise simple outfit.

Michelle has always adored Burberry’s trench coats (every girl should invest in one) but this year I’ve taken a fancy to the Burberry Leather Sleeve Trench coat. I love Leather and double-breasted coats, and this is a wonderful combination of both- with soft, washed leather sleeves. Perfect for Winter and toughening up a girly look.

Sabrina, Sassy’s resident glamour puss is loving Fendi‘s fur pocket cape in a gorgeous chestnut brown… The swing shape will be perfect paired with the sixties and seventies pieces we’re seeing so much of for the coming season, and if you’re more of a faux fur girl, check out Asos.com or Topshop.com for some fun alternatives!
