Skincare

iGETU Botanicals, Detoxifying And Brightening Face Mask And Scrub

Splurge: iGETU Botanicals, Detoxifying And Brightening Face Mask And Scrub, $388 (50g)

I’m a big fan of this natural, vegan and organic brand, borne from a Hong Kong-Australian teen’s struggle with sensitive skin. The mask in particular is loaded with sustainable ingredients sourced from Australia, and is designed to protect skin from the harsh environment and air pollutants our face and body takes in every day. It’s super easy to apply and feels refreshing on the skin. I love the feeling of it removing all the dead skin cells, whilst also rejuvenating and replenishing my skin. My face always looks brighter, and I always get compliments days after I’ve used it!

Earth Selectives, Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Save: Earth Selectives, Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, $128.90

A cost-saving alternative to an expensive face mask is coconut oil! I must admit that I was sceptical at the thought of using oil on my face – I was concerned about breaking out, or looking too shiny. But boy was I wrong. Let me start with the application; coconut oil has a lot of slip, so putting it on your face feels like you’re giving yourself a mini massage. Bliss! I also really loved how moisturising it was. The dryness around my eyes cleared up almost instantly, which in turn revitalised my dull skin, so it was a real win in my books!

Sassy Tip: Go easy on the coconut oil at first! I initially used coconut oil as a cleanser and mask at night to see if it was suitable for my skin. After a couple of months trialling it in this way, I then incorporated coconut oil into my daytime routine as a moisturiser.

Eyeliner

Chanel, Signature Intense Longer Eyeliner Pen

Splurge: Chanel, Signature Intense Longer Eyeliner Pen, $260

This was a recent splurge buy; I was at a client’s home doing a makeup lesson and one of the ladies swore by her Chanel liner, so I gave it ago and instantly fell in love with it! Admittedly, this pick is not for the faint-hearted. The result is unapologetically bold, with a strong and super dark colour pay-off! I like that it’s lightweight and very easy to apply, with fantastic staying power. If you love the cat eye effect, this is the liner for you.

KIKO Milano, Definition Eyeliner

Save: KIKO Milano, Definition Eyeliner, $95

I’m a big fan of KIKO eyeliners, and the price tag too! If you’re looking for a lived-in and easy liner to apply I highly recommend these creamy liners that last all day, even in this humid Hong Kong heat! I love the ease of the liner gliding on the skin. If you do make a mistake, a swipe of your cotton tip easily does the trick to fix any mess!

Eyeshadow

Tom Ford, Eye Colour Quad

Splurge: Tom Ford, Eye Colour Quad, $665

Tom Ford shadows are a cut above the rest. They’re so silky soft and luxurious, and a dream to apply! Whenever I use any of these Quads on a client, I can guarantee they will ask what shadows I used and go to purchase it straight away. As you’d expect for the price tag, the packaging is super glam, coming in chic velvet pouches.

Anastasia Beverly Hills, Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette

Save: Anastasia Beverly Hills, Soft Glam Eye Shadow Palette, $380

While nothing can beat the luxe factor of Tom Ford, Anastasia Beverly Hill’s Eye Shadow Palettes come in a close second. The Soft Glam palette comes with 14 shades, which means you get plenty of bang for your buck (that works out at $27 per shadow!). I like the colour options and textures here, ranging from intense metallic, solid matte and shimmery glitter, which will easily take you from day to night. As a bonus, there’s barely any drop down underneath the eye when the shadows are applied.

Sassy Tip: For those who love more intense hues, check out Anastasia’s Modern Renaissance and Alyssa Edwards palettes.
