What’s on this weekend…
After a hectic full week back at work (thanks, public holidays), we’re looking forward to relaxing this weekend. Kick off your Friday night by eating for a good cause at Yardbird, before trying your hand at pizza making, Zumba dancing or even performing. Don’t forget to also check out some of the events happening around town for Oktoberfest – we’ll see you at the races on Wednesday!
World Food Day
Today is World Central Kitchen’s fourth-annual World Food Day, where 150 restaurants across the world will donate 10% of their proceeds to World Central Kitchen’s relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico. To help the efforts, our very own Yardbird will offer 10% of all sales today toward helping the 3.5 million people who are in need of food, water, shelter, and other necessities. So, celebrate Friday, and eat and drink for a good cause!

Pizza Making Party
Ever wondered how to make the perfect pizza? This weekend, head to Hong Kong’s own Neapolitan pizzeria, Motorino in Wan Chai, for your chance to learn some new skills! Kick off the event with wine and antipasti, before donning your aprons and putting your kitchen skills to the test with a hands-on pizza making class.

Silent Disco Zumba Yoga and Wine On The Beach
Have a relaxing (and wine filled) Sunday afternoon with this beach side event hosted by The Flying Winemaker and The Yoga Room. Start with an energetic Zumba class and then unwind with some yoga, before enjoying the sunset and a glass of wine on the beach!
When: Sunday, 15 October, 5pm to 7pm (5pm to 5:45pm: Silent Disco Zumba, 6pm to 7pm: Silent Disco Yoga)

Uncensored Open Mic Cabaret
Spice up the end of your weekend with an open mic variety night! Split into two sections, the first half of the night will focus on controversial comedy, putting the spotlight on new talent and Hong Kong’s emerging female comedy scene, with the second half featuring a free for all of outrageous cabaret, with acts from mentalism to drag.

Under our Shelter
If you’ve ever wondered what story lay behind the vast number of refugees in Hong Kong, this is an ideal opportunity for you to learn more. What better way to depict the vivid history of this city than through photographs? Held by non-profit group, Centre for Refugees, ‘Under Our Shelter’ is a photo exhibition accurately reflecting the city’s past, and the safe haven that it was once seen as by many. All proceeds from this 10-day exhibit will go toward the Centre for Refugees in assisting refugees here in Hong Kong.
When: Thursday, 19 October to Sunday, 22 October & Monday, 23 October to Saturday, 28 October – check the event page for specific timings for each date

Oktoberfest
With Oktoberfest in full swing, get ready to enjoy a beer and some classic German grub this weekend. Try out Beerliner German Bar & Restaurant’sextra special Oktoberfest menu, or head to King’s Belly in Tai Po. Don’t forget to also check out Happy Wednesday races this month, which have been transformed in keeping with the festivities!
