What’s on this Weekend…

 

Happy Friday! With Christmas nearing ever closer (15 days and counting, girls!) the city is coming alive and we are feeling full of seasonal cheer. So this weekend, why not round up some of your friends and check out some  festive events in the city? From dressing up and drinking for SantaCon, to enjoying a good old fashioned Panto, to checking out the Christmas Varietea show, there’s something for everyone…

SantaCon

It’s that time of year again, the annual SantaCon is back! This Saturday, prepare to see the streets of Honkers flooded with hundreds of Santas. As the ultimate parade of festive cheer, don your Santa hat and grab some friends for the perfect excuse to get in the festive spirit and to hit up some of your fave bars along the way!

When: Saturday, 10 December, 11am – 11pm
Where: All over HK!
How much: Free to join, just be sure to bring some cash for drinks along the way!

The Snow Queen

Another event to get you well and truly in the festive spirit (and to have you laughing for days!), get down to the Kellett Theatre and enjoy the Hong Kong Players’ annual Christmas panto. The panto is a HK Christmas tradition that’s been running for over 50 years, and this year’s performance of The Snow Queen will be an extravaganza of song, dance and jokes that everyone will enjoy (even the Scrooges out there!).

When: Sunday, 11 December – Sunday, 18 December
Where: Kellett Theatre, Kellett School, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong

Latin Beat Party

TGIF! To celebrate the end of the week, spend your Friday night dancing to salsa beats, latin pop and so much more. Get down to the one of our favourite tropical bars, Mahalo Tiki Lounge, and take advantage of the beautiful terrace. enjoy some amazing cocktails and dance the night away to pumpin’ tunes from DJ SalsaGodfather.

The Varietea Party Presents: A Very Varietea Christmas

Comedy HK returns with a night packed full of comedy, music and poetry. This time they are teaming up with Amnesty International to put on a great show for a great cause; giving you even more of an excuse to celebrate this Christmas with them!

When: Saturday, 10 December, 8pm – 11pm
Where: Hong Kong Brew House, Basement, 19 D’Aguilar Street, Central, Hong Kong
How much: Pay what you like! With 10% of proceeds going to Amnesty International.

Startup Weekend Fashion

Are you a budding entrepreneur or fashion designer keen to grow your network and share ideas with like minded individuals? Then make sure to check out Startup Weekend Fashion; a global network of passionate leaders and entrepreneurs – helping you to come together for the weekend long workshop to share ideas, form teams, and launch startups.

1905 Hong Kong Human Rights Film Festival

The 1905 Film Festival aims to raise awareness of human rights issues in Hong Kong and Mainland China through film screenings, discussions and debates with filmmakers and activists. For the festival’s debut in HK, they are looking for volunteers to help with the organisation and screening of international films, addressing issues such as labour rights, LGBT and women’s rights – sign up here if you’re interested!
