Checking out art installations around town this month? Don’t miss your chance to see the incredible interactive installation, LUMENous GARDEN at Pacific Place, on display until Sunday, 14 April.

We all know Pacific Place as a go-to destination for shopping. Whatever the occasion, the convenient location and the wide-array of shops in the mall always have us covered, not to mention the food and drink offerings. But this month, it’s also playing home to something extra special. In celebration of Hong Kong Arts Month, the interactive art installation, LUMENous GARDEN will be on display in the Garden Court until Sunday, 14 April, and it’s not to be missed.

A signature artwork of FoldHaus, an American art collective, the participatory art experience consists of two enormous sculptures, SHRUMEN LUMEN and BLUMEN LUMEN. Taking the world by storm since its debut at Burning Man festival in the Nevada Black Rock Desert, this is the first time the art piece will be on display in Asia, and is the first time the two sculptures will be displayed together to create the LUMENous GARDEN.

Set to respond to human interaction (with a little help from sensory pads hidden beneath the sculptures!), both pieces will glow, grow and bloom as shoppers pass by and step on the the pads. The two large origami mushrooms, SHRUMEN LUMEN will gently grow, while the giant origami flower sculpture, BLUMEN LUMEN will bloom – giving the effect of a living being. With thousands of glowing LEDs embedded through the translucent outer skin of each piece, the LUMENous GARDEN will undoubtedly live up to its name, producing a dazzling, sensory art experience which is sure to impress art fans and wow savvy Instagrammers across the city.

Promising an immersive and interactive experience, the installation is on display now at Pacific Place’s Garden Court until Sunday 14 April. Be sure to visit between 7:30pm and 8:30pm for The Dusk Experience, to immerse fully in the installation as the sculptures glow in a dimmed environment.
