WEEKENDER: Swap Party, Wine Tasting in the Dark, Rooftop Cinema and More!

11 November, 2011

Can you believe it’s already November?! The nights are now drawing in ever earlier… yet that just means the party starts sooner! Here’s our round-up of what’s on this weekend.

Swap it!
Did you ever watch Twiggy’s Frock Exchange? Well, no, we don’t blame you, it wasn’t very good! But in that same spirit of ‘one girl’s trash is another’s treasure’, Forever And Again’s Swap Party welcomes you to bring your unwanted clothes, books, DVDs, shoes and accessories to trade with others! With all proceeds going to charity (Roots & Shoots, an organisation that helps youngsters make a difference in their community), plus the added glow of recycling and being green, this is one shopping spree you won’t need to feel guilty about afterwards!

Where: Kila Bar, Upper Basement, 79 Wyndham Street, Central
When: 13 November, 3-5pm
How much: $60 entry, includes drinks token

Party
As if Lan Kwai Fong wasn’t party central anyway, this weekend they’re going all out with the biggest street party in town! The LKF Carnival will feature hot Brazilian dancers, crazy African drummers and a parade full of exotic and colourful costumes, plus games, tasty treats and other live shows… and a few cheeky tipples, of course! There’s also an Arts & Crafts street with stalls from around 40 local artists and a Kids Street with tons of family-friendly entertainment – though never mind the kids, we want our picture with Elmo too!

Where: Lan Kwai Fong
When:  12-13 November, 1pm til late
How Much: Free!

Soak up the sunset
If raving it up in LKF is no longer your scene, how about a more chilled out evening on The Peak? Kick back, sip some wine, nibble on some finger food and soak up some stunning views bathed in a glorious autumnal sunset at the Peak Galleria’s (fairly self-explanatory!) Rooftop Sunset Party. The Happy-Go-Lucky Big Band Jazz Orchestra will also be on-hand to set the mood with some of their signature grooves.

Where: The Peak Galleria, The Peak
When: 12 November, 4.45-6.45pm, sunset at 5.41pm
How Much: $150 (or two free tickets if you spend $500 in The Peak Galleria on the day), includes one glass of wine and finger food

Stimulate your senses
Think you know your wines? Well, you may soon have to think again once Wine Tasting In The Dark has sharpened your senses! You’ll go on a 90-minute wine and gourmet food journey – totally in the dark of course! – getting to taste a carefully-picked selection of fine wines together with some intriguing food combinations. Suitable for total novices or wine buffs alike, we’ve heard that this is an amazing, exciting and thought-provoking experience for all… so bottoms up!

Where: Dialogue in the Dark Exhibition Centre, Shop 215, 2/F, The Household Centre, Nob Hill, 8 King Lai Path, Mei Foo
When: 12 November, 7-9pm
How Much: $550, book here

Cinema under the stars
Want to see some cinematic classics on the big screen? Sick of freezing to death in HK’s many multiplexes? Well, Rooftop Cinema HK might just be your perfect night out! Offering film fans a chance to catch some old favourites under the stars, above the smog and amidst Central’s stunning skyline, you might have already missed The Princess Bride (Inconceivable!) but you’ve still got the chance to watch Patrick Swayze shake his hips in Dirty Dancing on Monday, swoon over 80s’ Tom Cruise in Top Gun on Tuesday or master your best Michael Caine accent (‘You’re only supposed to blow the blaaady doors off!’) to The Italian Job on Wednesday! And we can’t wait to tell you about their Christmassy programme later…!

Where: 20/F FoFo M88 Building, 8 Wellington Street, Central
When: Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until 14 December, 7.30pm (film start 8.30pm)
How Much:  $150, book here
