Mid-Autumn fun
Mid-Autumn Festival is the whole reason we get to enjoy this long weekend, and there’s a tonne of events around town to celebrate this festival of lights! Go traditional with the Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance (hundreds of performers, thousands of sticks of incense and a 67-metre fire dragon that winds its way through the crowded streets!), take a wander round the giant Lantern Wonderland in Victoria Park or the Terracotta Warrior lantern display in Tsim Sha Tsui or enjoy a Moonlight Cruise along the harbour to catch the city lights – get the full scoop on the festivities on our sister site Sassy Mama, and find out about even more events here.

When: 29 September-2 October
Where: Throughout Hong Kong; see here for more details
How much: Free!

Long weekend inspiration
Need some inspiration for how to spend the next four days? We’ve got a whole host of ideas – try a game of boules (with a few glasses of vino, of course) at Les Boules, take advantage of the 10% Sassy discount on a feast at new resto The Salted Pig, try your luck at winning a dinner for two at the Conrad Hong Kong (and drool over that ginger soufflé!), dedicate a day to exploring all the amazing boutiques in Island Beverly… and don’t forget about the celebrations on Monday for National Day by having a flutter at the National Day Races at Sha Tin Racecourse and enjoying the spectacular 23-minute fireworks display at 9pm!

Got an event you’d like us to feature in The Weekender, or have a top tip for us? Email us the deets at [email protected].
