25 November, 2011

Are your advent calendars primed and ready? Yes, believe it or not, this Weekender covers the first of December – and the big day itself will be here before you know it! But there’s plenty to do in the meantime before the tinsel explosion fully hits, so here’s our round-up!

Get Bendy at Lululemon
The holidays can leave even the most zen person feeling a teensy bit crazy so get your stress in check early on and attend a free yoga class at the Lululemon showroom tomorrow. The complimentary class will focus on healing body ailments that come with running or just plain old age! They will provide mats so all you need to do is RSVP as spaces are limited.

When: 26 November, 9.30-10.30am

Yes folks, there is a whole Wine Zone (including Master Of Wine, Ned Goodwin) given over for your delectation! International celebrity chefs Richard Blais, Jacky Yu, Walter Kei and Margaret Xu will be on hand to whip up a few delicious delights whilst renowned world music artists including Akasha and Yeshe will be providing the tunes.

Drop it like it’s hot
HK has been all abuzz with news of Dragon-i‘s epic pre-anniversary party – featuring none other than hip-hop legends, Snoop Dogg and Dr Dre (provided Snoop gets through customs, of course)! There’s a rather hefty cover charge, but given Dragon-i’s usual glamorous get-togethers, this is one party you probably won’t want to miss – unless you want to be hearing all about it endlessly the morning after!

Where: Dragon-i, UG/F, The Centrium, 60 Wyndham Street, Central, 3110 1222
When: 30 November, 10pm
How Much: $1200(!)

Be wow-ed
Can’t be bothered to trek all the way to Macau for Cirque du Soleil? How about heading to Cirque Mechanics’ Birdhouse Factory instead? Arriving in HK for 15 nights only with a string of rave reviews behind it, this US circus troupe have been described as a cross between Cirque du Soleil and Stomp, with some fine art and Chaplin-esque slapstick humour chucked into the mix too.

Where: Lyric Theatre, HKAPA, 1 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai
When: 30 Nov-11 Dec; Tuesday to Saturday 7.45pm, Saturdays 3pm, Sundays 11am & 4pm
How Much: $395-795, www.hkticketing.com, 3128 8288

Bring on the mulled wine!
We’ve finally given in to the Christmas spirit – and what better way to get us in the festive mood than a look round Classified’s Christmas Pop-Up Shop?! The beautifully-designed store, inspired by European Christmas markets, practically begs to be browsed in and features a giant gingerbread house centrepiece, whilst there are plenty of scrumptious delights on offer – including mince pies, Stollen cakes, Christmas hampers and mulled wine (don’t mind if we do!), plus Classified’s famous cheese platters too. As if that wasn’t enough, there will also be gourmet wine and cheese classes held every Wednesday and Thursday – they’ve already started and are super-popular, so get booking now!

Where: Shop B23, B/F, The Landmark, Central
When: Until 24 December, 11am-8pm
How Much: Wine and cheese classes $220; reserve a place by calling 2522 3444 or emailing [email protected]
