15 January, 2015

That’s right – it’s the start of red carpet season! Award shows will be flooding our screens and all the glitz and glam of Hollywood will be on full show. This week, our favourite celebs seriously impressed with some stunning hair and beauty moments at the 72nd Golden Globes. Here’s our pick of the top ten beauty looks on the red carpet to give you some New Year beauty inspiration…

Emily Blunt
The Best Actress nominee for her role in Into the Woods brought back the ethereal goddess look with a wispy double French braid crown parted down the middle. Flushed cheeks and peachy lips complete the look.

Immaculate. Understated. Hollywood glamour never gets old, and Ms. Chastain delivered a classic red carpet moment with her luscious waves and natural make-up (the plunging Atelier Versace halter gown doesn’t hurt, either!). To make your eyes pop like this nominee’s, use a brush and blend smoky gray eye shadow to a clean wing past the brows.

Tina Fey
The hilarious Golden Globes co-host made a statement with a ponytail featuring sky-high volume. Her simple black eyeliner and minimal make-up is perfect for an evening under the hot stage lights. Sassy tip: if you have a lot of make-up on for a big event, keep it looking fresh with a stay spray like Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Make-up Setting Spray.

We love the way the beloved Lupita experiments with colour. This year, she went lavender all the way, from her shimmery eye shadow, lipstick, earrings and, of course, Giambattista Valli gown.

Emma Stone
Redheads can rock a red lip. To complement her glamorous Lanvin jumpsuit, this Golden Globe nominee kept her face fresh with a navy smoky eye (an easy look with a kohl cat eye and some silver shimmer on the lower inner eye) and a muted red lip.

Homeland’s leading lady picks up on the blues and greens of her hand-embroidered Valentino dress with her eye make-up. Teal eyeliner is blended along the lash line, and a NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Giove (a metallic navy) is layered on top of it. To keep Claire from looking too polished, a relaxed chignon completes the look.

Keira Knightley
Keira’s make-up builds on her natural pregnancy glow with some chocolate eyeshadow lined all around the eye and a shimmery white highlighter on the inner corners of the cheeks. Sassy girls take note: the highlighter bit is a super easy trick to looking radiant and awake!

US-ENTERTAINMENT-GOLDEN-GLOBE-ARRIVALSLorde
This rocker traded in her typical oxblood pout and wild waves for a classic orange-red lip and slicked back hair. The best part about the Best Song nominee’s look is the distinctions between her classic hair and make-up, menswear silhouette, and – yes, that’s right – crop top.

Kerry Washington
The Scandal star looked rosy and regal with pink lips and a smoky black eye. For this messy up do, try curling the ends of your hair and teasing the roots before pulling it into a bun.

Sienna Miller
This actress’ effortless wavy bob is true to her signature boho style. The easiest part about creating this hairstyle is you don’t have to section off your hair before curling – just style as you go and spray some flexible hold hairspray to maintain the look!
