The former Central Police Station Compound is decking its halls with fun and festive cheer.
Ever since the old police quarters transformed into a hub for heritage and arts, Tai Kwun has been our go-to for creative workshops, independent craft stores, art exhibitions and hip bars and eateries. And now, this Central hot spot has also become a one-stop destination for all your festive needs, right through Sunday, 3 January, 2021.
Tai Kwun is bringing Christmas cheer to the next level with its circus theme, echoing its annual programme Tai Kwun Circus Plays. This kicks off on Christmas Eve and has taken on an online format this year. Along with a big Christmas tree standing magnificently in the centre of the Parade Ground, the entire complex will get a fabulous holiday makeover.
Still on the hunt for some last-minute gifts? Why not sign yourself and a friend up for a Mood Light Workshop at Bonart – if you ask us, quality time spent together is the best gift of all . Or head to Yuen’s Tailor for a Fantasy Crystal Ball Workshop or Phantom Lighting Workshop to create your very own, one-of-a-kind Christmas decorations for your home.
If it’s stocking stuffers you’re after, check out the Festive Circus Accessories Collection at Hexadoor or LockCha’s Floral Tea Christmas Gift Set. A number of other stores are in the giving mood and will be offering discounts on a range of gift items, including a parallel store, Campo Marzio, CARFT, TASCHEN and more!
All that shopping is bound to work up an appetite so it’s just as well that Tai Kwun has a whole range of festive meals and drinks for you to enjoy this month. Head straight to Statement for an exquisitely Festive Afternoon Tea which includes British classics and Yuletide specials such as Spiced Victoria sponge cake and Christmas pudding scones, complete with Cornish clotted cream, or an afternoon tea for two with a complementary round of “Winter Spritz di Nebbia” at PAZTA.
If you’re looking for a sweet treat, Madame Fù has got you covered with its traditional Bûche de Noël. It doesn’t get more festive than that! Phoenix Sweets also have a selection of festive cupcakes, decorated cookies and ornaments filled with multicoloured meringue that almost look too good to eat.
While you’re there, ring in the New Year one drink at a time across the grounds. Take your pick from Bar at Amoury’s Black Magic cocktail, LockCha’s Christmas “TEATAIL”, Between Coffee’s Mixology Series of coffee cocktails or a White Christmas special from The Dispensary, made with Bulleit Bourbon, homemade candy syrup and egg white. Here’s to the end of 2020!
