Rachel Zoe’s Debut Collection

11 February, 2011

The lookbook for Rachel Zoe’s new collection has now launched online. Unlike her little capsule collections for QVC (tons of faux fur, everything very cheap-looking), this is a far more wearable offering for real women, and doesn’t seem to be based quite so literally on Zoe’s own wardrobe (predictable long boho dress above excepted!). There are a lot of tuxedo-inspired pieces and tailoring as well as short sixties-style cocktail dresses and a heavy seventies disco vibe. Prices will apparently range from around US250 to US700, making it more of a splurge than a steal. In general I’m feeling a little “meh” about the whole thing…

I’m just not quite sure who the Rachel Zoe customer is… The length of this little coat dress says “young”, but the fabric doesn’t…

I can appreciate a well-cute pant-suit, but surely the number of women who would wear a bright red one is limited…

And it might just be the styling of this shot but there’s just nothing sexy about this look to me despite the model’s pout.

The long dresses for me are the stars of the collection – they are Zoe’s style signature after all and I love this long black one. I can imagine it being flattering on most womens’ bodies and there’s nothing wrong with sticking with what you know best!
