Pretty In Pink

15 July, 2011

I have spent the last 5 weeks in Europe and one thing that is evident is the revival of coloured jeans. Unlike the early 90’s when everyone was made about coloured baggy Keppers in hideous shades of red, green and mustard, it is all about pretty pastels with the hottest must have shade of the season being pastel pink.

Almost every designer denim brand has their a range of coloured jeans on the market and the style is now fresh and modern yet reminiscent of Bridget Bardot and Jackie O in the 60’s. Β We are talking about cropped 7/8th or ankle bitters that are just fitted enough without being too tight. Β This cut is flattering on most body shapes and most importantly of all, gives us shoe lovers the chance to show of our new summer sandals and sparkly pedicures.

The two main brands that stand out the most for me at the moment are Rag & Bone and my all time favourite denim brand, J Brand. Their use of premium grade denim, style and most important of all, colour palette is spot on. Sometimes, pastels can go horribly wrong. You risk ending up with a sickly or too β€œsweet” a shade of pink or yellow and look like your 8 year old little cousin instead of channelling a chic resort vibe ! These 2 brands have opted for very fresh and pretty pinks and their soft and light denim is perfect for the heat and body skimming rather than heavy bulky jeans.

With the scorching summer that is upon us, pastel jeans teamed with a loose tank tucked in and pretty flat sandals or a killer pair of heels will get you through most occasions stylishly!
