Perfection in Phuket

Pool View-1

By the time December rolls around, lazy days by the pool seem like a distant dream. But don’t despair … New Year is a fab time for sun-seekers to cast off winter woolies and get away! Thailand has always been a popular winter destination for Hongkongers in-the-know – well, all year round really. From November to March, the weather is particularly glorious and on the island of Phuket, it’s the dry season. Even better!

Low-key Trisara (meaning Third Garden in Heaven) is one of THE properties to stay at … EVER EVER … A place – some refer to as Mecca – where General Manager Anthony Lark personally ensures that every guest feels at home – it’s a long way from the Khao San Road backpacker budget, but the extra $$$ it’s SO worth it – “pampered” and “luxury” don’t begin to describe.

Every villa has its own sparkling infinity pool and spacious private deck with stunning views of the Andaman Sea, while the villa itself is more spacious that most HK apartments. It’s so “luxurious” it’s almost hard to tear yourself away, but with so much on offer you must! You might want to have the yoga teacher guide you through asanas, indulge yourself in the Spa, take a trip SCUBA diving to experience the island’s colourful reefs, or simply borrow a mini iPod, already filled with hours of music from the hotel’s handpicked library, and relax on the beach – while you send boyf/hubbie off to play a round of golf on a championship course.

At the end of a busy day, there’s no better way to unwind than sipping a cocktail, nibbling on some delicious delicacies (Thai or Western) and eating freshly caught and grilled fish. Overlooking the beach, the bar and dining area is the heart of Trisara, a sophisticated setting that’s perfect for an evening out – well, out of your villa.

The downside? Honestly? The longing to return.

Trisara, Phuket. Ocean view pool rooms from USD690 a night.
