klapsons, The Boutique Hotel – Singapore

2 June, 2010

Definitely one of the grooviest hotels in Asia, klapsons officially opened in Singapore in October 2009. You check-in inside a giant, five-metre tall stainless steel globe, and that’s only the beginning of the funkiness – the three-tier, swirly ceiling changes colour, and when you get to your room, you’ll find shell-shaped showers flanked with full length mirrors and twinkly LED lights. Psychedelic!

Expect bright splashes of colour, unusual curves and industrial textures – this is a really cool hotel. We love the little Molton Brown goodies in the bathroom, comfy beds and Nespresso machines that come in handy when you just need that morning caffeine fix. Its central location makes it ideal for business travellers, and seeing it’s only a 10 minute drive from shopping heaven Orchard Road, you might also be tempted to indulge in a spot of retail therapy. The hotel only has 17 rooms, so book early, especially around some of the long weekends.

While you’re in Lion City, try out PS Café at Harding (28B Harding Road, Singapore, +65 64793343) for a contemporary take on comfort food classics and a divine brunch, or take the cable car to nearby Sentosa Island (still in Singapore!) to check out beachside bar/restaurant and all-round hipspot Café del Mar (40 Siloso Beach Walk, Sentosa Island, Singapore +65 62351296).

The Executive Rooms from SGD 385 per night, approximately HKD 2,200. Visit the Klapsons website for further info!
