Kids4Kids – Books for a Cause

6 May, 2010

Kids4Kids is a charitable organization that encourages creative writing in children for a cause. I just love the whole concept behind this and I think it is so lovely to see children helping other children in need. I remember being pretty naive when I was young and I didn’t really think about needs other then my own so it is promising to see a younger generation getting involved and realizing that they can really make a difference in other peoples lives.

Kids4Kids works with the youngins to write and illustrate children stories and each story is published into colourful books. The great thing is that all the proceeds from each book goes to charities that the children select. Room to Read is the recipient of the funds generated from the 2008 and 2009 series of books. To date, they have published eight bi-lingual children’s story books and moving forward their goal is to donate the proceeds to charities that help children here in Hong Kong.

The Books can be purchased online at Haven Books and I think they would make a wonderful gift. The price for each book is about $100 and I am thinking of getting a few for my niece Emily as she just became a big sister and now has to think of someone else’s needs other then her own!

If you are interested in learning more about how you can help Kids4Kids check out their website as they are looking for volunteers. They will also be hosting a fundraiser luncheon on 28 May at the Conrad Hotel. Tables are $15,000 for a table of 10 and for more information you can email [email protected]
