The new lunch menu at The Flying Elk offers everything from burgers and milkshakes to crab salad and mocktails.

With the Hong Kong location of The Flying Elk open in June 2018 (read our full review here), we were thrilled to be the first overseas franchise. Conceptualised by three Michelin star Swedish Chef Björn Frantzén, The Flying Elk promises to take hungry guests on a journey through the chef’s Nordic upbringing. The comfortable and casual setting is ideal for date nights and special occasions but they’ve just brought something new to the table! The resto has just launched a quick and easy lunch option that proves perfect for business meetings and team lunches.

This weekday lunch menu, aptly named “Lunch on the Fly”, began early in October, so we booked a table to check it out for ourselves. As The Flying Elk HK’s first-ever lunch menu, we were thrilled to see the amount of variety on the menu – from burgers and milkshakes to crab salad and mocktails, there’s something to satisfy every craving.

The weekday lunch menu is set to change on a monthly basis, and includes a welcome mocktail, a homemade breadbasket, soup of the day, a main course, and the option of adding on dessert. To start was the rich cauliflower cream soup, served in true style, out of a teapot at the table. The mains were hearty and just the right size for a decadent lunch. And, of course, the desserts at The Flying Elk do not disappoint. The classic crème Crème brûlée is topped with roasted hazelnuts and the after eight molten cake is just the right amount of bitter and sweet. The dream end to any meal.

The best bit? The full lunch set (mocktail, soup and main course) is available for a reasonable $190. Head Chef Jim Löfdahl stays in line with his seasonally-focused meals, incorporating seasonal Scandinavian ingredients and authentic flavours. The cozy Nordic setting and convenient location is just a bonus to the food! Whether you’re looking to fit in a business meeting, a midweek pick-me-up, or a fun team lunch, there’s plenty to leave you stuffed and satisfied.
