I was extremely excited when I discovered that Ashley Sutton was launching a new project in Hong Kong this month. He’s the creator behind Iron Fairies and Ophelia; two of my favourite bars in the City and ‘must-see’ venues for when I have guests in town.

Dear Lilly whisks you away into a floral fantasy world that is chic, romantic and oozing with Parisian glamour. The attention to detail is incredible; hundreds of tiny bottles filled with flowers adorn the walls and tables, roses hang from the ceiling, and even the menus are a testament to Sutton’s eye for detail and skill in design. I fell in love with it all.

Located on the Level 4 podium at IFC, the location is perfect. An outdoor terrace allows for a relaxing vibe for after work cocktails, taking in the gorgeous views of Victoria Harbour. Inside, the restaurant is perfect for the most romantic of evenings. The service was fantastic and from the mezzanine floor above us, a DJ filled the room with subtle tunes that complemented the vibe.

We started with cocktails at the bar which went down far too easily. Delicious flavours and bespoke glasses were the perfect way to start the evening. I always appreciate the little touches and the wait staff ensured that the presentation was on point. There is something for everyone on the menu; from fruity flirty flavours, to darker and dry taste sensations.

For dinner we opted for The Dear Lily Short Rib Burger ($188) and Cornfed Chicken ($168), with sides of Skinny Fries ($68) and Sautéed Seasonal Vegetables ($68). I was pleasantly surprised at the prices, which extremely reasonable, especially when you take into account the surroundings and the flavours of the food. All of it was full of flavor and utterly delicious. The burger was cooked to perfection and beautifully prepared with succulent meat. Once again, the preparation and the attention from the wait staff was second to none.

We finished off with Chococaramel Tart ($68); rich, creamy and melt in the mouth scrummy. I would have gladly eaten another.

Ashley Sutton has excelled himself with the décor inside this beautiful venue, with the food and cocktail menu living up to their surroundings. I can’t recommend this place enough for a truly lovely evening.
