The biggest and baddest beauty launch of the year
Nothing but the best, of course. When you’ve been swinging your hips to the beats of Pon de Replay, marveled at her beauty choices in her Man Down music video, and worshipped her sense of style in Wild Thoughts, you can’t help but to be pumped about Queen Rih dropping her first beauty collection.
First announced back in 2016, when Rihanna signed a deal with the Kendo division of LVMH, which also produces Marc Jacobs Beauty and Kat Von D Cosmetics, Fenty Beauty by Rihanna finally drops Friday, 8 September 2017 on FentyBeauty.com and www.sephora.hk.
The brand has been dropping hints and previews, and it’s been nothing short of next level genius. Based on what we’ve seen on the brand’s social pages, what we’ve heard on the grapevine, and what Rihanna’s beauty style is like, here’s what we’re expecting from the line…
Diversity
If her trailer is anything to go by, Fenty Beauty is going to be the epitome of diverse beauty and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Rihanna herself has confirmed that her line will boast 40 foundation shades — especially catering to brown girls. As far as the market now goes, MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid SPF 15 foundation is currently in the lead, with 35 hues, although not every country carries the entire range.
Of course, I’m obsessed with the models she’s used in her inaugural campaign — Duckie Thot, Slick Woods, Selena Forrest and Halima Aden.
Skin Is In
Makeup shouldn’t cover, it should enhance — I’ve lived by these ethos for as long as I’ve loved beauty and that’s why I’ve always put an emphasis on taking care of your skin. Fenty Beauty’s campaign videos and products show off fresher-than-thou complexions, accentuated by makeup.
Highlighters That Kill
BECCA may have done a good job of creating a diverse range of highlighters for various skin tones, but when it comes to us chocolate girls, I suspect you might want one of everything in Rihanna’s range.
Let’s face it — who doesn’t want her glow?!
Lip Service
Forget matte lipsticks – I’m betting on a revival of gloss. Think dewy, plump pouts in a variety of nude shades – that are your lips but better.
Of course, Rihanna doesn’t just do subtle. I’m expecting bold, beautiful lipstick shades too, especially since her makeup was made up entirely of Fenty Beauty products at the Valerian and The City of a Thousand Planets premiere in July.
From the music world to fashion and beauty, Rihanna umbrella clearly knows no bounds and we’re excited for the drop!
