Authentic, Italian eats at Pausa in Wan Chai

Take a break at this simple Italian joint

Pausa is perfect if you’re looking for a no-fuss hunger fix. Pausa literally means “break”, and that’s what this little storefront is perfect for. Whether it’s a mid-morning coffee break or mid-afternoon ‘get me out of the office!’ break, you can pick up a creamy cappuccino or a slice of authentic Italian pie “al taglio” (by the cut), the only way true Italians eat pizza on the go.

Or if you just need a break from cooking for the night, you can pick up a box of ‘pesto genovese’ and maybe even a focaccia on your way home for the evening. Because everything is sold in more-or-less individual portions, it’s the perfect solution to disagreements over pizza preferences if you’re ordering for more than one person.

What sets Pausa apart is its use of authentic Italian ingredients that make the relatively simple menu items taste a step up from anything you could whip up at home. I do suggest waiting until a pie is fresh out of the oven, as sometimes, especially later in the day, the slices could have been left out for awhile. That being said, if you’re just looking for an on-the-go snack or a tide-me-over, this is the perfect spot!
