We’ve made it through another week and are creeping ever closer to the end of January! Feel like celebrating? Get out there this weekend and check out all that’s happening in the city. With artist showcases, dance classes, documentary screenings, a pub quiz and even a night to ring in the end of Dry Jan, there’s enough to keep us busy until next weekend…

Dancing In The Dark

Dance your way into the weekend with this evening’s event at SharedSpace! Expect a fun, improv-style dance jam, lit by candles alone. Doors will open at 8.45pm and lights go out at 9pm, with the dancing beginning after a short-guided movement and meditation session.

Planeat Documentary Screening & Urban Farming Workshop

Relax this evening and enjoy a screening of the Planeat Documentary, courtesy of Naked Hub and The Store HK. The quirky, fast-paced film features well-regarded scientists, innovative chefs and responsible farmers who demonstrate how we can positively make a difference on the planet if we follow a diet which is good for our health and environment. Producer/Director Shelley Lee-Davies will also be attending the screening and will lead a brief Q&A after the film.

If you’re a lover of Chanel and haven’t yet checked out the Mademoiselle Privé exhibition, there’s no time like this weekend! The exhibit invites guests to immerse themselves in the dazzling history of the Fashion House and explore the modernity of Coco Chanel’s emblematic creations, how haute couture has been reinvented by Lagerfeld, the brand’s iconic Chanel No 5 fragrance and the re-editions of its “Bijoux de Diamants” fine jewellery collection first created by Coco in 1932.

Carmen Huter - Artist Of The Month

Carmen Huter – Artist Of The Month

Say goodbye to the Monday blues and head down to Brickhouse, to check out Carmen Hunter’s beautiful photography. Along with showcasing an array of travel photographs, the event will include a silent auction and raffle with amazing prizes to be won (from the likes of The Luxe Nomad, Mischa and more!), with a percentage of the proceeds and sales from the artist’s prints going to the Plastic Oceans Foundation. Brickhouse will also serve up a complimentary welcome drink by NZ Seven Brews beer from 6pm to 8pm.
